Geometry Fun!

As many of you know, October is the month for Breast Cancer Awareness and Depression Awareness represented by the pink and green ribbon respectively. With this in mind I created this mani collaborating these colors to show that I do care for these two causes. I am no expert so I shall not bombared you with my ramblings. But if you want to know more on these two illnesses, I would suggest heading on to the breastcancer.org and (since I couldn’t find any official websites for depression awareness) Scrangie’s very well written post on depression for more details.
This is my first attempt at a more complicated tape mani. I used this video from Sophie of My Awesome Beauty as my guide and I think the final result came out quite well!
I’m gonna keep it short and sweet from here and just let the photos do the talking 😀
The colors I used on my left hand are Skin Food Pedicure Sparkle in Silver, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Baviphat Baby Blue, Essie Mint Candy Apple, China Glaze For Audrey, and OPI Mermaids Tears
And for my right hand I decided to switch it up and do a pink version! Colors I used are Skin Food Pedicure Sparkle in Silver, OPI Alpine Snow, Nature Republic Baby Pink, Baviphat Light Pink, OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender and OPI That’s Hot Pink.

I kinda ‘cheated’ on the right hand. As you can see it looks quite simple compared to the left hand. The most sections per finger is only 4 as opposed to 5 on the left hand. Who knew one finger could make such a difference!

One more shot of my left hand.

And last but not least, both ‘claws’ side by side 😀

Island Holiday!

I was away the past weekend on an island trip. I popped by Perhentian Island which is off the east coast of Malaysia. It is a nice small and relatively virgin island. The beaches were clean with fine sand, waters so clear you could see the bottom ans most importantly – there were quite a few snorkeling spots around the island! The corals and fishes were the colors of the rainbow. Ahh~ How I wish I was there again.

Anyways, I obviously had to do my nails before I headed off to the island. I was torn between a few designs but eventually settled on a fuss free polka dot design.

Here it is with the sun and sea behind it!

I used OPI No Room For the Blues for the darker blue and Baviphat #23 for the baby blue. When I was painting my nails, I totally forgot to get my dotting tools out so I grabbed the nearest pencil I had and started to my dotticure. *MacGyver moment* So, to those who do not have a dotting tool, don’t fret. Just grab a pen or pencil and work your magic!
A photo of the beach where I stayed on before I leave.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Minty Cheetah

(My first ever stamping attempt!! I found this just sitting in my drafts folder. According to my Instagram, I actually did this a good 9 weeks ago! NINE weeks! I actually thought I posted this before. OMG! I am getting old!)
Did a little stamping yesterday. I finally found the courage to dig out my nail stamping kit – scraper, stamper(?) and the *only* two stamping plates that I own. I tried stamping before this but it never turns out OK so I always avoided it. Until now.

I picked the cheetah print from plate M57, took a deep breath and did what I feared to do. Although this is far from perfect I think it looks pretty good.
I used Essie’s Mint Candy Apple as the base and stapped it with OPI Java Mauve-a and topped it off with baby pink polish from Baviphat. Mint Candy Apple was quite chalky in the beginning. It took me 3 careful coats to get it both smooth and opaque on my nails. But the color is really pretty and was definitely worth the effort! By the way, I think mint green and baby pink makes a cute combination!
