I’m sporting nubbins in this post. Well, my nails decided it is too long and broke on me while I was painting my nails for this 9 Day Nail Art Challenge. Nubbins or not I must forge on. LOL!
I decided to do my nails based on this tutorial
from Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. Sarah always has gorgeous swatches on her blog and her nail art is just drool-worthy!
Back to todays nails.
I always love leopard prints on my fingers but so far I have only used a stamp to do so. I always avoid free handing it because I am afraid that it would not come out perfect. Yea, I’m weird like that.
I pinned this tutorial since the day it came out but I never tried it till now. And now I think to myself – Oh My Gawd, why was I so scared before! LOL!
I used Mrs Claus I got from my grab bag from 365 Days of Color as my base color. Mrs Claus is a raspberry jelly with gold shimmer in it. I kinda like the color but it turned out to be a little sheer for my liking. I am wearing 3 coats of Mrs Claus on my nails. If you look carefully you can still see my nail line underneath the spots.
The spots are done with Skin Food Pedicure Sparkle in Gold and wrapped with OPI Black Onyx.
OK. It seems that I didn’t read the rules properly and missed out the last day that I was supposed to send a request to Erica to take part in her challenge. Oopsie! Owh well, Since I have already done a few designs, I shall continue with the challenge whether or not I am linked with the other wonderful ladies.
Galaxy nails. One of the many nail art techniques I was crazy scared to try. I always loved to see them on other nail bloggers but was afraid that I will never be able to do it as nicely or perfectly. Well, I guess I was wrong!
This really is one really easy manicure to do!
All you need is a bunch of complementing nail polishes, a regular make-up sponge and a dotting tool. I did not know which way to go with my galaxies and pulled out a bunch of purples and a pink for this challenge.
I started with a black base and sponged nebula shapes with my polishes, starting with the darkest tone as the base of the nebulae to the lightest as highlights. After all this was done I decided to add some glitter for glitz. I used Cult Nails Hypnotie Me on the clouds itself and dabbed a bit of Glitzology Purple Rain on the sides for extra oomph! After all that has dried a little I took my dotting tool and some white polish and dotted on some stars.
I actually started this manicure quite differently. take a look at my thumb here.
Initially I was inspired by this tutorial
at The Daily Nail but changed my mind and did it in purples instead. While editing the photos I thought that my original idea looked pretty cool. And Hypnotize Me
really did brings out the greens and yellows I used.
I think I may redo this on all my nails one day. What do you think? Do you prefer the purples or is a multi colored nebula more your cup of tea?
Polishes I used in this manicure:
Sally Hansen Purple Potion
Cult Nails Hypnotize Me
Glitzology Purple Rain
Etude House CPP001
OPI That’s Hot Pink
OPI Alpine Snow
OPI Black Onyx
One more giveaway polish on my blog today!
This is Dance Education from Trelly’s M.I.S.C Polish. It is a clear based polish with red square and hex glitters, black square and bar glitters as well as white bar ad small squares.
I love the combination of colors and glitters here. I am not usually one for bar glitters but somehow the ones in Dance Education doesn’t bug me much!
I layered only one coat of Dance Education over Zoya Dove, a grey cream which I love! I actually went back and forth while picking the base color for this polish. I wanted to layer it ovver something that can show off all the different glitters in Dance Education. Do you think picked a good color?
I love how these glitters came together. Although I have seen polishes in the same color combination before, this is definitely a one of a kind polish in my stash 🙂
I finally found time to sit down and write this post! It was a really busy Christmas for me! I had so much to eat I think I would need to go on a diet after this. LOL.
Anyways, I do hope all you girls had a great Christmas with your families 🙂
I am sure you have noticed this manicure from a few days ago! The inspiration for this monotonous manicure was from Marta form Chit Chat Nails
. She always posts the most interesting skittlete manicure which I love. A few weeks back, Marta had a Skittelete Manicure Contest so I decided to try my luck with this!
I took me a long time to decide what skittlette to do but I finally decided that I wanted to incorporate the new polish I got from my Glitzology Haul – Robots in Love.
I first painted coat of Color Club Harp on It and topped it off with one coat of Robots in Love to bring out the holo goodness in Robots in Love. I even managed to get a heart out for this!
I then proceeded to paint my thumb, index and middle finger with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow and, to avoid it looking to stark white, I topped it off with OPI Pirouette My Whistle.
This was a competition held before Christmas so I thought it would be nice to have a little Christmas Tree incorporated in it. So I did that with a nice grey – Zoya Dove – and some striping tape. I topped the litle Christmas tree off with a holographic star I fished out from Robots in Love. 2 quick coats of OPI Black Onyx on my pinky and I was good to go!
And while I was taking photos of it, I realised that I did an Ombre manicure! Ha!
Well, I did not win a prize in the Skittlette Contest but I sure did have fun coming up with the manicure. You should check out all the awesome entries and see if your favorites won!
The polishes I used were:
OPI Alpine Snow
OPI Black Onyx
OPI Pirouette my Whistle
Color Club Harp on It
Glitzology Robots in Love
Hello!! Welcome back!
I’m a little cuckoo recently from work and holidays and falling sick. 😦
Anyways, as I promised yesterday, here is my jazzed up Cookies and Cream! I decided to bring out the black glitters in the polish wish a quick tape mani with OPIs Black Onyx.
I thought this added an edge to the innocence of just Cookies and Cream alone.
I love how these two manicures, though the difference is so slight has such different looks to it! What do you think? Would you walk around with mis-matched manicures on your hands?
