Febraury CosmoBox – A Bumper Edition

It’s really funny how ALL my beauty box subscriptions come in the same week when, if I remember correctly, they should be spread out across 2 weeks.
Well, today I have my last box to review – the February Cosmobox. Honestly, it is looking quite good! There’s a BeautyFoot foot mask, Wella hair treatments, Avene cleanser and toner, a Stage eyeliner and a whole bunch of Murad products!
On to the items in detail:
BeautyFoot | BeautyFoot easy Pack (RM55.90)
Beautyfoot is the perfect remedy to help treat hard, dry, rough or callused soles. This pair of foot mask is an innovative and natural home remedy aimed at treating unsightly foot problems in just one painless seating, extracting foot odor and remove unsightly dry skin, leaving you with beautiful renewed skin in just a few days.

I have seen similar products as this BeautyFoot mask around and was always curious about it. I think the first time I ever saw it was on YouTube where this beauty guru took photos of her feet before, DURING and after this treatment. The ‘during’ shots were…ewwww… but the ‘after’ shots showed her feet so smooth and shiny. I really do want to try this on but I regularly wear opened toed shoes, which means that if I do this everyone would be able to see my icky peeling feet D: Where is a long holiday when you need one! Haha.

Eau Thermale Avène | Avène Gentle Gel Cleanser (200ml/RM79.90)
Ths exceptionally smooth gel cleanse contains Avène Thermal Spring Water, micro-granules of Vitamin E and safflower oil to sooth and moisturize normal to combination sensitive skin without upsetting the skin’s natural pH balance.

Eau Thermale Avène | Avène Gentle Toner (200ml/RM79.90)
This very gentle and protective alcohol-free toner contains Avène Thermal Spring Water and silicates to moisturize, soften and protect sensitive skin form external aggression.

My rather picky friend swears by the Avène Thermal Spring Water facial mist that she buys the large bottle to spray all over herself on a hot day. And my cousin swears by spring water being good for your skin whether you drink it or use it in your beauty routine.
Seeing that both these products contain spring water I guess it can’t go all that wrong right?
Murad | White Brilliance Wrinkle and Pore Refining Treatment (30ml/RM418)
Serun that brightens your skin while tightening pores and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Reduces the appearance of pores by 62%!

Murad | White Brilliance Illiminating Day Moisture SPF 20 PA++ (50ml/RM298)
Light lotion illuminates and hydrates skin while protecting it from harmful UVA/UVB rays. It prevents formation sof dark spots and pigmentations. Pearl powder instantly gives the skin a luminous appearance.

Murad | White Brilliance Illiminating Night Moisture (50ml/RM308)
Antioxidant rich night cream that conditions and softens skin while infusing it with powerful brightening agents.

More Murad items for me and I haven’t even used anything I received earlier on. And guess what came with all these Murad goodies – a RM30 voucher again! I wonder if I can use all my vouchers at one time. 3 vouchers would mean I can get RM90 off.. How I wish!

Murad | Oil-Free Sunblock SPF30 (50ml/RM170)
Prevents sign of premature aging caused by environmental exposure. It delivers high SPF protection and providing intense hydration with an oil free matte finish.

This is interesting. It would definitely be good for when I go snorkeling at the islands. Oil free means it won’t be as harmful to the corals right? I forgot to at least take a whiff of the product to see if it had the standard Sunblock smell. I will update the post when I have tried it!
Wella Professional Care | Brilliance Treatment, Enrich Treatment and Enrich Self Warning Treatment (150ml/RM52)
The creamy mask of Brilliance helps to restore a healthy look to hair, leaving it with an instantly noticeable soft, irresistible touch, whilst Enrich Moisturizing enhances vibrancy of coloured hair, leaving it with an instantly noticeable soft, irresistible touch. Then cosy up with Self Warming to a unique rinse-out self-warming formula, which can replenish all hair textures, leaving hair instantly full of shine and soft to touch.

I am as usual going to pass on the treatment for colored hair to my mom and try out the other two. Moisturizing Treatments is definitely what I need. Self-warming tratment? I definitely have to try this soon. But it also means I will need to find a block of time to do this. I did not read the instructions yet (whats new huh) but I do believe that I would need at least 30minutes. Right? #fail
Hmm.. I wonder if all these treatments are OK to use by a person who has problems with hair fall

Stage | Kohl Intense Pencil (RM33)
Stage Kohl Intense Pencil is a soft pencil that lines defines and shades the eyes with rich, intense color in a silky-smooth matte finish. Perfect for that smudged, smokey, sexy look.

I did try this one out and I love it! I only used it as a regular eyeliner though. It was really a very intensed black and glided on my lids perfectly. As for staying power and smudging – it stayed on well but smudged a little. But I guess it makes sense since it is supposed to be used to create that smudged, smokey, sexy look.

Honestly, Cosmobox has improved tremendously since their December box which is a very good thing. From all sample sized products to multiple full sized products in a box, I can’t complain much. And from the looks of the price, the other products in the box are quite high end too!
Considering that I have finally gone through all my boxes, I have decide don which one to keep. Of the four subscriptions that I have, I am definitely going to keep my ModBox subscription and probably/maybe my Vanity Trove subscription, or should I keep this Cosmobox subscription?
I actually have a month more for VT and maybe 2 months for Cosmobox. I shall wait for each to expire and decide on the last box. Fair? No? How now brown cow?

Cosmobox January 2013

When I received this month’s Cosmobox I had my doubts. After last month I really did not know what to expect from the girls at Cosmobox. But when I opened my Cosmobox this month I was amazed! The girls did step up their game this time!
Look at them goodies!

Yup, you spotted right! There is a FULL SIZE OPI nail polish in there! Lets move on to the products shall we 🙂
First up is the curators note. Unlike the usual ones that just come with a note from the girls in the front and product descriptions on the back, this curators notes comes with a little offer from benefit! With this card, I can redeem a sample of the Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW foundation. I have had this box for a week already but keep forgetting to pop by benefit to redeem my gift! Gahhh!! *makes mental note to go by a benefit counter soon*

Mariah Carey’s Lollipop Splash The Remix Collection | Inseperable EDP Spray (30ml/RM160)
A cocktail of explosive fruity sensations of raspberry, mango and pear combined with exotic jasmine and orange flowers create a sparkling and irresistible fragrance.
Mariah Carey’s Lollipop Splash The Remix Collection | Never Forget You EDP Spray (30ml/RM160)
A playful and radiant fragrance combination of Gourmet Jelly Beans and Golden Peony creates a flirty, fun experience

Mariah Carey’s Lollipop Splash The Remix Collection | Vision of Love EDP Spray (30ml/RM160)
A colorful, chic fragrance inspired by the combination of French Macaroon and purple jasmine for a tasty surprise

I love getting perfume samples! They always give me a chance to try out the scents before I decide to splurge on a full sized bottle! And they are also very travel-friendly. These Mariah Carey perfumes definitely match the Lollipop theme very well. They are all very sweet scents that remind me of candy. My favourite of the three was Visions of Love.

Organix | Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo and Conditioner (385ml/RM39.90)
The sensual and alluring blend of cherry blossom extract and Asian ginseng root help invigorate the scalp and hair follicle to add volume at the root while nourishing your hair with the replenishing organic rice milk and bamboo extract for hydration and shine.

I see the words volume, nourishing, hydration and shines. Makes this product sound really good. Although these are samples, they are really packed well and they gave us more than one of each product to try (which was one of the main complaints with last months box). Into my travel essentials it goes for now! There was also a coupon to purchase a set of Organix shampoos and conditioners at RM60 (RRP: RM79.80). I may check it out one day. I do have until the end of March to decide 🙂
The Body Shop | Strawberry Shower Gel (250ml/RM220)
This soap-free shower gel contians real strawberry seed oil. It has a deliciously sweet scent. Soap-free. Lather-rich.

The Body Shop shower gels are always a win! This is a travel sized bottle of course. I would need to plan more trips to finish all these samples and travel sized toiletries I have. LOL. And here we have another discount coupon here: 20% off Strawberry Shower gels.
Yadah | Anti Trouble Spot (15g/RM35)
High potent pimple cream with concentrated formula helps reduce spots, blemishes and blackheads gently yet effectively without drying the skin surface. Combats inflammation, improves skin immunity without irritation and promotes healing. Free from preservatives, paraben, mineral oil, benzophenone, sulphate and artificial coloring.

This product seems like its really new in the market. I have yet to come across anyone who used it. My skin has been quite trouble free the past few months but there is no harm in keeping this around. You never know when the weather or stress or all the munching that I will be doing next month will cause a breakout.
OPI | Mariah Carey by OPI (15ml/RM59.00)
8 chart-smashing shades inspired by the icon Mariah Carey. These shades include four new OPI Liquid Sand lacquers featuring groundbreaking technology for a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle. OPI nail lacquers contain no DBP, Toluene or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.

HoHo! I am glad I am still subscribed to Cosmobox this month 😀
My random polish was the glitter topper Pink yet Lavender. Not bad. My low-buy month starts with an OPI nail polish. And hey! More vouchers 🙂

Good job to the girls at Cosmobox!
I love the January Cosmobox much more than I did the last one. I am impressed at how big a difference it is between the two boxes. The girls have definitely taken into account all the opinions from their subscribers and upped their game.
This is definitely going to affect which beauty box I am going to keep after my subscriptions come to an end. 2 down 2 to go! Although there is still one January box that hasn’t arrived at my doorstep. Hmm..

Cosmobox December 2012

I got my Cosmoibox just in time for Christmas last month. The box was presented just as classy as before – baby pink, black and white all over!

Once I tore back the tissue paper, this is what was in it. Samples. All Samples. To be honest, after all the hype on Cosmobox’s Facebook page, I was a little disappointed.

Below are leaflets on the different items in this month’s Cosmobox.

The first thing I opened was the Sebastian Hair Care Box.

In it, 3 sachets – shampoo, conditioner and treatment for colored hair. Hmm.. I am not too fond of this, for one because my hair isn’t colored and I did not expect to receive sachets in my box. 😦 Needless to say I have not used it, I would most probably pack it in my bag when I’m off on a short trip some time next this year.

Sebastian Light | Shampoo (250ml/ RM64)

Purifying Sebastians’ mind to the notion of clean with the weightless shine shampoo and conditioner

Sebastian Light | Conditioner (250ml/ RM69)

Pro-shine conditioners cleanse and purify the hair’s condition for weightless, flawless shine. color safe.

Sebastian Hydre | Treatment (150ml/ RM89)

Intense nourishment formula rehydrates dry, frizzy and chemically treated hair for invigorated silky body and bounce. color safe.

The next item in the box was a pouch of Yadah Cosmetics items. I personally have never heard of them but their packaging does look really cute! In it was 2 bottles of Vitamin Toner and 2 bottle of Vitamin emulsion, 1 sachet of Sun Cream SPF40 and another of Angel BB Cream SPF20. I have heard some good reviews on the BB Cream. It is definitely next on my to-try list!

Yadah | Vitamin Toner (80ml/ RM49)

Enriched with organic Opuntia Ficus (cactus) to soothe and hydrate the skin. Formulated with orange and lemon extracts filled with vitamins to help refresh, tone and brighten skin.

Yadah | Vitamin Emulsion (80ml/ RM49)

This light matte-fluid when paired with he Yadah Vitamin Toner leaves skin naturally moist, brightened and velvety soft.

Yadah | Sun Cream SPF40 PA++ (50ml/ RM35)

An extremely gentle and light weight waterproof oil-free cream that offers effective protection against harmful UV rays. Natural and organic-based extracts make it less irritating to the skin

Yadah | Angel BB Cream SPF20 PA++ (40ml/ RM49)

A multi-functional makeup base and primer with botanical vitamins and skincare benefits including anti-wrinkle, anti-oxidant, brightening, UV sun protection, moisture and sebum control

Owh yea! There was also a RM10 voucher for Yadah products. All I need to do now is to hunt down a Yadah store.

My favorite product in this box so far – benefit they’re Real mascara. I was thinking to get this mascara for ages but have never jumped the gun and I am so glad that I didn’t!

benefit | they’re Real! Mascara (8.5g/RM85)

A mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates. This jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!

I haven’t  tried this product out yet. Too many opened mascaras in my drawers to open another.

And last but not least, a roll of red ribbon, a Santa Hat hair clip and mini First Aid Salve from *Bisou* Bon Bon.

*Bisou* Bon Bon First Aid Salve (25g/ RM16.00)

An oinment for elbow graze, insect bites, finger burns, eczema patch and irritating rashes. Infused with antiseptic tea-tree oil, lavender, shea butter, rose hip oil, vitamin E, manuka honey and chamomile.

I do not have this product with me because on the day I received my Cosmobox a friend of mine mentioned that she had bad bed bug bites from a hotel she went to. What better way to put this little First Aid Salve to the test right? Before I passed this to my friend, I did take a whiff of it. It reminds me very much of Burt’s Bees Hand Salve.

I have to admit here, I placed an order with *Bisou* Bon Bon since I got this box and purchased some of her other goodies. She has *awesome* customer service and even though I gave away most of what I bought for Christmas present, I am very happy with my purchases from her!

—————

I love 2 out of 5 products. Not that bad but definitely not good. All in all, I am rather disappointed in this months box but I do have 4 more months to go! Lets hope that the girls behind Cosmobox will do better in the coming months.

CosmoBox

Subcription boxes have finally made their way to Malaysia! I obviously could not resist temptation and jumped right in!
Cosmobox! I plucked the following passage from their website:

The modern woman of today’s generation is often caught up in the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan life, leaving little time to care for herself. With Cosmobox, you’ll be able to experience the best, most trendy, exciting and convenient way to discover new things at your very own leisure. Packaging for the Cosmobox is amazing! It comes in a white embossed box in a chic black and pink sleeve.

Lots of ribbons and tissue paper later I finally came to the products! I can tell you here that I was disappointed when I opened the box. I actually thought we would get more/bigger sized products.
From L-R: Wella SP Smoothen Range Shampoo and Hair Mask, Elie Saab Le Parfum EDT, Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash, Revlon Photo Ready 3D Volume Mascara and  Nail Shop’s 6-way Nail File and Buffer,

Anyways, lets get to the products:

Wella SP Smoothen Tange Shampoo and Hair Mask

I love the hair mask! The shampoo not so much. The shampoo cleansed my hair quite well but left it in tangles and knots! Though, I do believe this is because of my waist length hair. The mask worked wonders on my knotty, tangle-y damp hair! I applied it on and waited a few minutes before I washed it off. Once the water hit it – swoosh! Super smooth tangle free hair! *love*

The only thing that bothered me was the smell of the product. Both these products smell kinda grandma-y to me. I have a feeling it’s just me though. LOL.
The Nail Shop 6-way Nail File and Buffer
I am not one to buff my nails but I did try it out. All I needed was a quick 30 second file and buff and my nails were shiny! Now I can definitely bust out my holographic and metallic beauties 🙂
Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
This came in just in time! My morning facial cleanser just ran out! Ha!
I tried this a few times already and I can tell you that it leaves you face squeaky clean! Squeaky clean with no tightness actually. I have tried many facial washes which although cleanses very well, leaves my skin really tight. This is actually really refreshing for me.
Elie Saab Le Parfum EDT 1ml
I never knew Elie Saab had perfumes. Talk about being outdated.
Anyways although I only got a small sample this actually can last me quite a while. I wore it the other day (just one spritz) and it lasted me the whole day. I could still smell a hint of it after I reached home after work! The scent for this perfume is light and sophisticated. There’s roses and honey and a hint of jasmine in it. I am usually a fruity-perfume kind of girl but I do see myself giving Le Parfum a chance in the future!

And finally, my favourite item in the box!

Revlon Photoready3D Volume Mascara

This is Revlon’s Photoready3D Volume Mascara (RM39). I am not one who usually wears make up at all but I love this mascara! It really does lengthen and volumize my lashes! I am always skeptical when it comes to trying out new mascara. For as long as I can remember, almost all of the mascara I have tried would have relocated to below my lower lashes by the end of the day. Not this one though!!

A definite must have from this box for me!

The price of this box : RM33

Do I think it is worth it? Considering that the mascara alone is RM39 of course it is. I think. I still have 5 months to go; only then shall I make up my mind 🙂

If anyone is interested to join Cosmobox head on to their website to subscribe. You can choose from 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. Do note that this is a monthly subscription and you do not get to skip any months.
