Easter Stripes

Happy Easter everyone! Today is a definitely a day to celebrate! I hope you have a great one with your friends and loved ones 🙂
Anyways, since it is both Easter and Spring already I thought I would do some egg-inspired nails today! I really had high hopes for this nail idea but I think I kinda failed on execution. I did a tape manicure and it seems my lines are kinda wonky. It is not bad in this photo but the next photo……please don’t scream.
The lines are really quite thick and uneven no matter how my tape is stuck. I suspect I may have pulled the tape off a little too late. Or maybe it’s just the matter of chalky pastel polishes. =/ And surprisingly, of all the nails, the one that turned out the best (in terms of how pretty my lines look) was my pinky.
One thing though, my lines may not be perfect but my nails sure do look cute!! I don’t usually wear pastel but I do love this color combination. It’s, well, srefreshing. LOL
I did a jelly sandwich with OPI Mermaids Tears, Rainbow Honey 20% Cooler and OPI Don’t Touch My Tutu and topped them off with OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender, piCture pOlish peaches n’ creammellow yellowhoney dew and Essie Lapis of Luxury.

NYE Mani – Clelestia and A Stroke of Brilliance

It’s the New Year already!! Time sure passes by really quickly!
I wore this manicure yesterday. My choices for the polishes were easy – what have I not tried on this year! A quick look in my drawers I picked up polishes which I thought looked good together. Rainbow Honey Celestia and essie’s A Stroke of Brilliance.
I first started off with 2 coats of Celestia. This color is lovely on its own. It’s packed with light glitter and glass flecks.
The only thing that bugged me a little was the sheerness of this polish. Even with 2 coats, under certain lightings my nail line was very visible.
Sheerness aside, this polish is super shiny!
I then grabbed A Stroke of Brilliance and dabbed it on my tip to create a gradient. I intended for it to be an accent nail but fell in love with it so much I did it on all 10 fingers!
I love how the different blues managed to blend together so well!
I even got a few compliments from my colleagues 🙂
What did you wear on your nails on NYE?

Starry Night

10 more days till Christmas!
I think it’s about time I posted some Christmas themed manicures. Don’t you think?
For my first Christmas themed nails, I would like to present to you my little Christmas tree – star and ‘lights’ included!
I used Rainbow Honey Kawako as the base color and did an easy Christmas Tree on my ring finger with Color Club Harp on It. And I finally topped it off with a little blue star!
I love how Kawako works so nicely as the night sky in this mani! The silver glitter and glass flecks which shine through reminds me of a star-filled sky! And Harp On It, My goodness! It shines and glows so nicely! The silver glitters in Kawako complements it so nicely and the holo-ness. *swoon*
Owh, the bunching on my little finger is caused by the PVA glue base that I am trying out! I am determined to master the art of peeling off my polish. Sadly, this wasn’t one of those times. The polish peeled off easily but not in one big piece…yet!
I have a few more Christmas themed manicures coming up! Do stay tuned 🙂

I’m sorry for the lack of posts these few days!! I got really sick the night of my birthday and I did not have the energy to blog. In fact I have not had much energy for anything! 😦
Anyways, I’m gonna do a quick little post of my latest pedi for this post. As usual the photo would be after the jump 🙂
I started it off with 2 coats of Sun Kissed by Sally Hansen and topped it with one coat of Rainbow Honey’s Hoofed Wrassle. I love Hoof Wrassle! It is a nice burnt orange polish filled with gold, copper and even orange glitter! I think there’s a hint of holographic glitter in there too!!
It’s really quite fall appropriate if you ask me!

Rainbow Honey: Kawako, The Yokai Collection

Finally! The last of the Yokai trio from Rainbow Honey – kawako!
kawako, The Mischievous River Child
kawako literally means river child and is known in Japanese folklore as the spirit of the river. It is usually depicted with reptilian skin which shifts from blue, to yellow and green. They are said to take a himanoid form and usually small sized, maybe about the size of a 6 year old child. They have webbed limbs and smell of fish! kawako are usually seen as little trouble makers or tricksters and their pranks are range from innocent to the malevolent! :O
OK. Enough about the spirit kawako, lets look at the pretty polish we have today! kawako is a mysterious dark blue polish filled with silver glitter and some iridescent blue flakes that flash purple!
I like the look of kawako really. It reminds me of the night sky reflected in water. Th stars are represented by the silver glitter and the occasional star that shines super bright – the hidden flakies!
Application of kawako was easy just like oni. In fact, kawako covers better than the other polishes. If you are careful enough you can easily get away with one coat. I did two coats in these photos just because. It can be a little gritty just like oni. Just a good coat of top coat should solve that!
This is one blurry photo but it does show off all the glitter shimmer in the polish!
This photo below actually shows you the texture of kawako. You can see from the reflection of the light that it is actually quite smooth!
One more for the road!
Love this polish?? Hurry on to Rainbow Honey’s website to grab it before they are gone!! They are also having a Breast Cancer Awareness promo going on. Do pop by their Facebook page for more details.

Rainbow Honey : Oni, The Yokai Collection

I’m gonna show you an awesome polish today. It is from the trio of polishes that Rainbow Honey recently came out with for their Yokai Collection.
oni, the malevolent wild demon
According to wiki, oni is a mountain ogre that is depicted to have red, blue, brown or black skin! I think Dee really depicted this in the polish. Don’t believe me? Let me tell you why I think so.Well, oni has a darkened-brown or rather a charcoal base and is packed with gold shimmer, bronze glitter and glass flecks that flash gold, brown and the occasional purple. It is indeed an intense polish.
I don’t know if it was intentional, but oni actually shade shifts! At first I thought it to be a dark brown polish. But as I wear it, I’ve seen it looking more black, olive (!) and even a nice milk chocolate-y brown under yellow lights!

Don’t you think this looks olive-y?
And Black!!
oni is a rather posh color. It is dark and mysterious but has really good shimmer throughout! As much as it is a dark polish, the gold shimmer in it makes it a work friendly polish. Especially in the Fall!

Application was the polish is awesome, even better than kitsune in fact! It covered nicely in 2 thin coats and doesn’t come off as gritty. I am not wearing any top coat in these photos by the way.

I think I caught a red flash as I was typing this out! And the polish is starting to look more and more like Oreos! or maybe S’mores! *chocolate I love you tons!*

It actually looks really Olive in the photo below!!

Are you wondering why I have not showed you why I think Dee depicted this polish just like the description on an oni in wiki? Go back up again and look closely. You would see that I have a few slanted words. Write them out. What do you see?? 😛

A blurry photo to show of the shimmer! 🙂

Remember these polishes are LIMITED EDITION!! Do hurry on by Rainbow Honey’s website to grab them before they are gone!
