It’s Christmas eve already!!
I will be really busy today so this is going to be a really quick post!
I finally gave the braided manicure another go last night! It turned out quite nicely if you asked me.
I now know that the trick is to let the different colored stripes dry a little bit before moving on to the next to avoid pulling and dragging 🙂
China Glaze Passion (gold)
OPI Big Apple Red (red)
OPI Green-wich Village (green)
And to my readers who are in a time zone earlier than me – Merry Christmas!!
I finally got time to make me some Candy Canes! The ones that make your hands look awesomely pretty. LOL!
I started off with 3 coats of OPI Don’t Touch My Tutu Stuck on some striping tape and topped it off with one coat of OPI Big Apple Red. It was a fairly easy manicure as long as you are patient and careful!
To make the thicker white areas, I placed 2 striping tapes next to each other and painted over it. But I think I did not place them close enough and some red polish seeped through and left small red lines in my design.
Red is one of the most challenging color to photograph if you ask me! Often times it would turn out far from what it is in my photographs! Just look at the 4 photos below! It’s just like magic. Haha!
After about 8 hours of wear, I thought that my accent nail was kinda boring and decided to add some stripes in gold to it!
What do you think, gold or no gold?
I decided to do an ombre manicure the other day. I picked these polishes to do the job.
I know it looks really odd here but I did swatch them on a piece of paper and this was the best combination for an omber manicure… or so I though!
When I painted them on my nails this is what I got :
No ombre and, OMG, can the colors be any more different?! I thought that they were all purple-ish but it seems I have a nice bronzy color hiding there. Fail.com.
The bright side of this manicure is that I have tried out all these polishes and I can say their formula is wonderful across the board! I believe I used 2 coats for all of them.
The little bald spot on my ring finger was caused by user error. While I was cleaning up I accidentally got some cotton on my finger nail. Boohoo. This little mistake though reaaaaaaally bad, actually brought out the maroon/red in this polish. Interesting huh!
So I have a question here, which polish do you girls want to see as a full mani? Do let me know and I will try my best to get it up ASAP! 🙂
I am not one to be match-y with my outfits. My manicures almost always is from a different color class from what I am wearing that day. Of course I make sure that the colors do not clash too badly!!
Last Sunday when I was in church, I realised that my pedi/shoe combination actually matched the bag I was using that day! Hah! This was totally random!
This combination is actually quite nice. I may wear it again soon 🙂
I used Ulta3 Hot Springs which I got from the swap with Natalia.
It’s fall! I have never travelled to a country during Fall but I have a feeling I would like it! I love the leaves turning colors, from green to red, to yellow and finally brown! Then there is the elusive pumpkin (in Malaysia)! I love pumpkins and pumpkin pies but I can never find any in the restaurants and cafes in Malaysia.
OK. I should really stop here! On to the polish!
I decided to break out an awesome Fall-esque polish for today – piCture pOlish Monroe (the first!)
This is the older, discontinued version of Monroe which I got quite some time ago. I was always hesitant to use it as I was afraid that the polish would be too dark for me. I stand corrected now!! This is a gorgeous polish!!
Monroe is a gorgeous wine jelly with hidden holographic glitters in it! I am wearing two coats in these photos. Funnily, it looks quite streaky here. IRL I did not notice the streaks at all.
The holographic glitter ain’t easy to coax out with my camera. I tried going really close to the light.
Took a blur photo.
Took some photos with flash. (getting closer here!!)
*rawr* glitters comw out!!
And finally, I stood really close to the light and used flash. This was the best shot to show you that the glitters really do exist!!
I actually even tried sun shots of Monroe but the color changed sooooooo much it’s funny. It looks really cool this way too!
Anyone out there has any good tricks for me?
This manicure is ancient. By the look of the messy cuticles and the super nubbins I would say that this manicure is at least 2 years old!! If my memory serves me right, I chose to do this skittle mani because I was down with fever and wanted something to lift my spirits. And it did!!
All the colors used in this mani are OPIs: No Room for the Blues, Greenwich Village, Need Sunglases, Flit A Bit and Big Apple Red.
Not long after I decided to make my mani less in your face, I went with half moons topped with OPI Private Jet – holo version. I actually got Private jet from a friend as a present. She was gifted it but found that it was not to her taste. Lucky lucky me!
I got a polish from The Hungry Asian for you today! This was actually taken quite a while ago. I don’t know how it never made it to the blog.
Anyways, I proudly present to you Strawberry! Strawberry, as it;s namesake, is an awesome red creme filled with black microglitter. The red is nice and bright and applies like a dream. There wasn’t a problem getting the glitter out of the bottle. What you see below is two effortless coats 🙂
And now for an artsy shot of my nails and the cobblestone pavement:
