Ozotic Pro 604

Standard
I have to apologize for missing a few post and not posting regularly. But I’ve been really busy these days with work and life and the works. I am going to make that up with a post of a gorgeous polish which I think has been overlooked by many.
As you know Ozotics were all the rage just a few months ago, but those were just the duochromes I think. I was stalking looking through a whole lot of photos online but I eventually settles on 2 Ozotic Pro polishes – 604 and 607.
604 is a gorgeous champagne/light gold based scattered holo polish. I think I have a post on this polish but I know it wasn’t a good one back then. LOL.
Anyways, 604 was a breeze to apply! All I needed were 2 coats to achieve opacity. From the photo you can see that the holo particles are quite big. But rest assured that they do not stick out at all. In fact, I went without top coat and my nails were still super smooth!
Removal was a breeze too!! All I needed was one cotton pad to remove all the polish on both my hands! No foil method needed here :)
The holo was super easy to photograph as well. Just look at the photos below.
How not to drool! :P

Essie A Cut Above

Standard
I have had this polish since forever but somehow never reached for it so far. I love the rose colored glitters in A Cut Above but never seemed to have the perfect base to go with it. When I got Boji from one of my beauty box subscriptions I knew that I would pair them both together!
Boji is a nice purple leaning taupe creme polish. It applied nicely in 3 thin coats and dried rather quickly too! I thought that I have already put up a swatch of it but I guess I thought wrong. I will have to go look for the photos!
A Cut Above is indeed a cut above with it’s easy to apply formula! The glitters came out without a fuss and required no manipulation during application. My bottle of A Cut Above has been sitting in the drawer for quite a while now so the glitters have settled quite a bit. All it needed was a good shake and it was back to it’s awesome self.
The shot above isn’t my normal photo format but I just loved it so much that I had to post it here. I like how the black background makes my hand seem so fair!
You know what, as I was looking at these shots I tried recalling where I took them but for the life of me, I can’t remember where I took them! Gah!

Happy St Paddy’s Day!

Standard
Happy St Patrick’s Day!Did you have a great time out? Had many Stouts?

My St Patty’s Day was a quiet one where I was home all day just lazing in bed. Saturday was a very busy day for me having to bring my dog to the vet amid a cancer scare. The vet said she was OK but we will have to keeo an eye on her habits and come back to him if there are any big changes.
Let me push those grim news aside and on to the green!
I really wanted to incorporate a rainbow on my nails but after going through all my drawers I realised that I had no purple/violet creme polish :S
I quickly went through my drawers and was really happy that I had 2 green cremes which were quite contrasting! Ha! If I were to attempt this mani 3 months ago it would’ve been impossible cz at that time all I had was the apple green (OPI Green-wich Village) and a jelly green (Cult Nails Feeling Froggy)
I did the gradient with OPI Green-wich Village and China Glaze Exotic Encounters. I quite like how the gradient turned out even though it wasn’t super smooth.
And of course what is St Patrick’s Day with out a four leave clover!

I used A England’s Holy Grail (original) as the base on my ring finger and used a dotting too to create four little hearts. Let me say this – I was not all that in love with Holy Grail (original) as I thought it was a wee bit too yellow. But after using it, I have since fallen in love with it’s yellowish glow and butter smooth formula!
Here’s a close up of my ring finger.

I liked how something so simple looked so great!

Febraury CosmoBox – A Bumper Edition

Standard
It’s really funny how ALL my beauty box subscriptions come in the same week when, if I remember correctly, they should be spread out across 2 weeks.
Well, today I have my last box to review – the February Cosmobox. Honestly, it is looking quite good! There’s a BeautyFoot foot mask, Wella hair treatments, Avene cleanser and toner, a Stage eyeliner and a whole bunch of Murad products!
On to the items in detail:
BeautyFoot | BeautyFoot easy Pack (RM55.90)
Beautyfoot is the perfect remedy to help treat hard, dry, rough or callused soles. This pair of foot mask is an innovative and natural home remedy aimed at treating unsightly foot problems in just one painless seating, extracting foot odor and remove unsightly dry skin, leaving you with beautiful renewed skin in just a few days.

I have seen similar products as this BeautyFoot mask around and was always curious about it. I think the first time I ever saw it was on YouTube where this beauty guru took photos of her feet before, DURING and after this treatment. The ‘during’ shots were…ewwww… but the ‘after’ shots showed her feet so smooth and shiny. I really do want to try this on but I regularly wear opened toed shoes, which means that if I do this everyone would be able to see my icky peeling feet D: Where is a long holiday when you need one! Haha.

Eau Thermale Avène | Avène Gentle Gel Cleanser (200ml/RM79.90)
Ths exceptionally smooth gel cleanse contains Avène Thermal Spring Water, micro-granules of Vitamin E and safflower oil to sooth and moisturize normal to combination sensitive skin without upsetting the skin’s natural pH balance.

Eau Thermale Avène | Avène Gentle Toner (200ml/RM79.90)
This very gentle and protective alcohol-free toner contains Avène Thermal Spring Water and silicates to moisturize, soften and protect sensitive skin form external aggression.

My rather picky friend swears by the Avène Thermal Spring Water facial mist that she buys the large bottle to spray all over herself on a hot day. And my cousin swears by spring water being good for your skin whether you drink it or use it in your beauty routine.
Seeing that both these products contain spring water I guess it can’t go all that wrong right?
Murad | White Brilliance Wrinkle and Pore Refining Treatment (30ml/RM418)
Serun that brightens your skin while tightening pores and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Reduces the appearance of pores by 62%!

Murad | White Brilliance Illiminating Day Moisture SPF 20 PA++ (50ml/RM298)
Light lotion illuminates and hydrates skin while protecting it from harmful UVA/UVB rays. It prevents formation sof dark spots and pigmentations. Pearl powder instantly gives the skin a luminous appearance.

Murad | White Brilliance Illiminating Night Moisture (50ml/RM308)
Antioxidant rich night cream that conditions and softens skin while infusing it with powerful brightening agents.

More Murad items for me and I haven’t even used anything I received earlier on. And guess what came with all these Murad goodies – a RM30 voucher again! I wonder if I can use all my vouchers at one time. 3 vouchers would mean I can get RM90 off.. How I wish!

Murad | Oil-Free Sunblock SPF30 (50ml/RM170)
Prevents sign of premature aging caused by environmental exposure. It delivers high SPF protection and providing intense hydration with an oil free matte finish.

This is interesting. It would definitely be good for when I go snorkeling at the islands. Oil free means it won’t be as harmful to the corals right? I forgot to at least take a whiff of the product to see if it had the standard Sunblock smell. I will update the post when I have tried it!
Wella Professional Care | Brilliance Treatment, Enrich Treatment and Enrich Self Warning Treatment (150ml/RM52)
The creamy mask of Brilliance helps to restore a healthy look to hair, leaving it with an instantly noticeable soft, irresistible touch, whilst Enrich Moisturizing enhances vibrancy of coloured hair, leaving it with an instantly noticeable soft, irresistible touch. Then cosy up with Self Warming to a unique rinse-out self-warming formula, which can replenish all hair textures, leaving hair instantly full of shine and soft to touch.

I am as usual going to pass on the treatment for colored hair to my mom and try out the other two. Moisturizing Treatments is definitely what I need. Self-warming tratment? I definitely have to try this soon. But it also means I will need to find a block of time to do this. I did not read the instructions yet (whats new huh) but I do believe that I would need at least 30minutes. Right? #fail
Hmm.. I wonder if all these treatments are OK to use by a person who has problems with hair fall

Stage | Kohl Intense Pencil (RM33)
Stage Kohl Intense Pencil is a soft pencil that lines defines and shades the eyes with rich, intense color in a silky-smooth matte finish. Perfect for that smudged, smokey, sexy look.

I did try this one out and I love it! I only used it as a regular eyeliner though. It was really a very intensed black and glided on my lids perfectly. As for staying power and smudging – it stayed on well but smudged a little. But I guess it makes sense since it is supposed to be used to create that smudged, smokey, sexy look.
———-
Honestly, Cosmobox has improved tremendously since their December box which is a very good thing. From all sample sized products to multiple full sized products in a box, I can’t complain much. And from the looks of the price, the other products in the box are quite high end too!
Considering that I have finally gone through all my boxes, I have decide don which one to keep. Of the four subscriptions that I have, I am definitely going to keep my ModBox subscription and probably/maybe my Vanity Trove subscription, or should I keep this Cosmobox subscription?
I actually have a month more for VT and maybe 2 months for Cosmobox. I shall wait for each to expire and decide on the last box. Fair? No? How now brown cow?

Vanity Trove March 2013 – The Temptress

Standard
My Vanity Trove March box is here! I think this is one of the boxes which had a hiccup in shipping because of all the public holidays we had last month.
At first glance, this box looked kinda empty, but after I dug through the box and picked some of the items out from inside the paper packing I was really pleased with it!
On to the products!
Kanebo Lunasol | Skin Fusing Powder Foundation (10.5g/RM140)
The Skin Fusing Powder Foundation provides a natural coverage and ensures a shine-free appearance with it’s SPF 20 PA++ powder formula.Instead of staying as a thick layer of makeup, the foundation blends and melts into your skin when applied. This smoothens any uneven surfaces and gives you a dewy and radiant complexion.
Kanebo Lunasol | Smoothing Makeup Base
Developed exclusively for our Skin Fusing Powder Foundation. This gel-cream type makeup base spreads well and smoothes your skin while evening out pores and bumps on your skin. The light-diffusion effect gives your skin radiance and keeps it smooth for hours. This makeup base helps foundation adhere evenly to your skin and maintains the beauty of your foundation for hours. Contains treatment ingredients to care for dryness-prone skin.

I have always wanted to try Kanebo products but as usual do not want to splurge on them. Yay for beauty boxes indeed! I wonder what they mean by skin fusing. Hmm..
The Smoothing Makeup Base wasn’t in the product list. I guess it is a special extra. Afterall it is supposed to complement the Skin Fusing Powder Foundation.
OMG! The sample is so small it’s so cute! LOL
Asian Potions | Blooming Ginger Body Lotion (250ml/RM89)
The Blooming Ginger Body Lotion is made from natural flower, fruits and plant essences, will moisturize your skin and improve firmness over time. Delicately scented with ginger flowers and a light mix of Asian floral scents, this is the perfect skin quencher that provides you with a deep inner calmness after a long day. Paraben, SLS and petrochemical free.
This little thing was the item that was hiding in the paper packing. At first I only saw the 10% discount voucher it came with and that was why i went digging for it. Haha. Anyways, I liked the lotion a lot! It was really moisturising and the scent was really refreshing. It is not your average perfume scent but rather a nice traditional herb-y woodsy scent.
I was intrigued with what other scents they had so I popped by their store in Publika. Their store was just a small place but it was packed with goodies from floor to ceiling! I did spot a few things that I wanted but I one of it was out of stock. I definitely will go back there next month to pick them up:)
Être Belle Sensiplus | Hydrasilk Gel Tonic (140ml/RM138)
Here’s something for the ladies with sensitive skin! The Sensiplus Hydrasilk Gel Tonic works to sooth and moisturise one’s delicate and irritated skin. Apply to your skin in the morning and evening after cleasing and gently massgae in, followed by the Hydrasilk Day and Night Cream.

Être Belle Sensiplus | Hydrasilk Day and Night Cream (50ml/RM188)
The Sensiplus Hydrasilk Day and Night Cream protects allergy-prone skin against environmental stressors and helps to relieve itching and irritation of the skin. Armed with silk proteins, white tea and pure vegetable ingredients, this power packed moisturizing cream can be used round the clock for 24 hours.

Hmm.. SPF 10 for a night cream? I wonder why..

It looks interesting and I hve heard that silk is good for your skin. But this sample is so small. I wonder how many days I can use it for. I should’ve had this on me when I went for lunch just now! My friend tried on my hand cream and almost immediately had an allergic reaction! She said it was itchy at first but elevated to stinging pain in under 20 minutes. I feel so bad about it D:

Bio Essence | Bio-Energy Firm & Brighten Eye Cream SPF 15 (3ml)
The Bio-Energy ingredient increases metabolism and improves blood and oxygen circulation helping to reduce melanin precipitate and eliminates dark circles.

This little item seems to be a little extra addition into the Temptress box. There was no indication or description on the products card.
Anyways, I saw ‘eliminates dark circles‘ I am sold! My dark circles are getting worse than before. I am quite sure it is not because I have not been getting enough sleep as I have been sleeping before midnight these few days. It may be my dry eyes condition. Hmm..
Timeless Truth | TT Orchid Extract Whitening Mask (1 sheet/RM10)
Be excessively pampered with Orchid, Purple Peril and Chamomile extracts, the TT Orchid Extract Whitening Mask whitens, brightens and moisturises. Each sheet is stretchable and form-fitting, giving you perfect comfort and full coverage for every application. There is even enough essence left in every packet to nourish your neck and body!
I so fail when it comes to using masks. I still haven’t tried all the other masks I received from the other beauty boxes. Gah. Although I am home almost all nights I don’t know why I do not use them. I need to be more hardworking on this aspect.
———-
I kinda liked this box actually. The samples in there may all be slightly on the small side (I think it is because I received my ModBox first!) but they are all relatively high end products. As usual they have all been moved to my samples drawer which is filling up rather quickly. LOL
Three down one to go! And the last box I have is the first ever subscription I have. Come back soon to see if I am happy with it:)

Jacquelline Burchell Polishes

Standard
There are two more boxes waiting to be reviewed but I thought that I should include a mid week nail post. After all this page is called Polish My Pretty Nails and not All The Beauty Boxes I Purchased!
I have 3 nail polishes for you today. These beauties are from my WonderBox which I reviewed just a few days ago. It is my first time using these polishes so I did not know what to expect but I think I rather enjoyed them.
Jacqueline Burchell is a Singapore based company (the reason why many of us have not heard of it) and boasts to have 1000 different shades of nail polish! I got 3 in my WonderBox – Amethyst, Galactic Evolution and Globular Cluster. The names sound so space-y and the colors are just the right shades to create a galaxy manicure don’t you think!
First up is Amethyst. As it’s names states, is a rich metallic purple polish. Coverage is wonderful! I am actually only wearing one coat in these photos!

Without top coat you can see that the polishes really brings out the bumps and dents on my nails. It dries to a semi matte finish too.

But once I apply top coat you can see that the polish immediately changes! When glossy, the polish becomes a gorgeous jeweled toned purple!

and, almost all the bumps and dents are not visible anymore :)
Next up is Galactic Evolution, a seafoam green polish. This polish wasn’t my favorite when I got the trio. But on the nail I have fallen in love with it! Aside from being really opaque (only 1 thin coat needed), it dries quite matte and actually hides the imperfections on my nails!

With top coat the Galactic Evolution really shines! It now takes on a new look altogether!

Hmm.. Galactic Evolution reminds me slightly of Seafoam by T.B.N. I will have to do a comparison to see how close they really are!
And finally - Globular Cluster - the only one of the three polishes I received which is still available on Jacqueline Burchell’s online shop! Globular Cluster is a metallic taupe polish which dries a little grainy. This was my favorite polish at first sight but I was kinda disappointed with the finish. I have not tried any of the liquid sands polishes by OPI or the pixie dusts by Zoya but I high doubt it is anything like this polish!

If this was to be a textured polish I would say that there isn’t enough gritty bits to pull it off. If it is a regular polish then I would imagine that I got a bad batch which just wasn’t shaken up enough.

I tried to hide the texture with top coat but it didn’t really work out.

Maybe I just needed a lot more top coat? But honestly, aside from the grittiness, I still do like this color! I am after all a fan of neutrals.
———-

I was actually surprised by these polishes! Never would I have thought that they were all good to go in one coat. Defnitely a +1 for opacity!

I have 1 qualm though. These polishes smell really different from normail nail polishes. The usual nail polish-y chemical smell wasn’t there. But in place of it a strong paint smell. Not paint like the ones you use on your walls, but art paint. Poster colors to be exact! The smell doesn’t really bother me so I do not see that I would keep them hidden in my drawer for too long.

Overall, I like this colors and as I am typing this I am thinking of the different ways I could use them – especially for stamping :D

February ModBox

Standard
I think I have to make this week beauty box week. The wonderful boxes all decided to come in within 7 days and I can’t wait to share them with you! I am really impressed with quite a few of them actually and it is making it hard for me to decide which to keep! Gah!
Anyways, here is my February ModBox. Guess how many products are full sized!
Can’t tell?
Well, all but one of the 5 items are full sized! And the lone sample is a deluxe sample which is 75% the volume of the full sized item! How awesome is that!
Without further ado, on to the products!
Shaire London | Silk Classic Collection Hair Perfume (Dry Shampoo) (60ml/RM35.90)
This is THE ultimate all-in-one hair product!Great for in between washes, it cleanses, conditions and revitalizes your hair, and repairs and strengthens hair roots – all in one nifty little bottle. Spray on both hair and scalp, and trust us, you’ll love how soft and silky your hair feels after.

Just before receiving this box I was staring at an online shop thinking if I should add the dry shampoo in my cart. I did not, and I am glad that I did not as this little bottle of awesomeness just happened to be in my box! Unlike most dry shampoos, Shaire’s dry shampoo is actually in liquid form. At first I was skeptical but after I used it I kinda liked it! It lives up to it’s description as a Hair Perfume and makes your hair smelling really great. As for making you feeling fresh it definitely does that! I used it twice, both times just before it was hair wash day and it did me good. I immediately could feel the greasiness say bye-bye and this fresh feeling lasted a good whole day :D
Perkins | Nail Wrap (20 strips/RM39.90)
Can’t find the time for a mani-pedi?Don’t let that deter you from having fabulous and stylish nails! Perkins Nail Wrap is a super easy way to sport glamorous nails in an instant – just peel, apply and file!

I finally own a set of nail wraps! But, as much as I love glitter… Blue isn’t really my color! I read the instructions and it seems this set is good for both a mani AND a pedi! and given that they provided you with 20 strips, you can actually do both! And judging by the length of these, anyone with short nails like me may be able to squeeze in 2 mani-pedis. *win for almost nubbins*

Juice Beauty | Cleansing Gel (RM115/200ml)
Brighten! Lighten! Tighten! Isn’t that what we all want? Now, we can have all that for our skin with this brightening cleanser which result is a more refined complexion with it’s antioxidant rich organic lemon, apple and purifying botanicals properties.

Organic Ingredients? Check! Fragrance Free? Check!
Nope I have not used this product yet but from reviews I read online it seems that this is quite a keeper! It may come off a little herb-y to some but that shows you that it is definitely organic. Makes sense? LOL. I told myself that I need to finish up whatever products I have before moving on to new ones. This item is definitely on my must-try-soon list as soon as my current cleanser runs dry!
Ohyea, by the way, this is the sample product. I actually did not realise it until I started to type out this post. For a sample, it is so well packaged! Just like the full sized item I assume.
Essence | Smokey Eyes Set in 04 Show Off (3g/RM11.90)
Smokey eyes just got easier! This handy set comes with a cream eyeliner that can be used as a base, a powder eyeshadow plus a dual ended applicator. Definitely on our must-have list for a night out!

Essence | XXXL Nudes Lipgloss in 05 Forever Rose (5ml/RM9.90)
The ultimate shine for your lips. Keep your lips shimmery and moisturized with Vitamin E and Panthenol without leaving behind a sticky feeling.

I have been searching high and low for Essence products (nail polishes especially!) but have not been so lucky. So far I know of only 2 places 1 drugstore that carries it but half the time only 10% of the nail polishes from the older range are there. When I saw these items I was super happy! One of my resolutions is to wear more make up and this definitely fits in there perfectly! The lipgloss is just nice to help me transition from almost no makeup to a bolder look! Just a hint of shimmer does the job well. The eye duo on the other hand may take me a little more time to use. I did a quick swatch of it and it (to a person who wears no eye makeup at all) seemed a little to dark for work. But I will definitely use it for parties or maybe formal events!
———-
Do I like this box? Of course I do! I do not have to do the maths but the value of all the items in this box definitely exceeds it’s price!
Will I keep this subscription? I am really tempted to! I have one more box to go then I will make my decision. The odds are looking good though. Haha!
This is a personal review, I am in no way associated with the company or any of the brands featured here.

February a.k.a Chinese New Year WonderBox

Standard
Two down one to go!
This is my second of my 3 month WonderBox subscription. I am still sitting on the fence on which box to keep but I have a rough idea. I shall announce my choice by the time I have reviewed all the other boxes which are heading my way.
Here we are, my March WonderBox!
There isn’t much in this months box if you ask me. Comparitively, this box reminds me very much of the December CosmoBox. BUT! Do you see the 3 small bottles in there? Yes! Nail polishes! :D This definitely makes this box lots better!
On to the products:
Murad | VITALIC® T-Zone Pore Refining Gel (50ml/RM228)
Clears pores while balancing oily and dry zones, visibly reduces pore size for a flawless complexion.

Tips: Apply gel after toning and follow-up with moisturizer after application to prevent dryness. Apply evenly over area of skin with large pores.

Murad | Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer (50ml/RM180)
Lightweight, oil free moisturizer infuses skin with hydration and protects against UVA/UVB rays.

More Murad items! And did I mention it came with another RM30 coupon? I have only tried the primer from the January box and I loved it so I have a good feeling for Murad products. I have to catch up on reviewing products I receive in the beauty boxes I subscribe to :S
H20+ | Marine Toner (200ml/RM99)
Revitalizing, alcohol-free toner that sweeps away impurities while improving moisture absorption. With Allantoin, Provitamin B and Hydrating Marine Blend.

H20+ | Oasis™ Dual-Action Exfoliating Cleanser (120ml/RM99)
Deeply Cleanse and revitalize skin with this gently refining, oil-free formula. Made with natural fruit enzymes, jojoba beads, and moisturizing marine botanicals.

Hmm.. I see that the main ingredients in H20+ products are marine botanicals. Interesting. Will it matter if I am allergic to seafood? LOL.
Well, I have never used H20+ products before but I do know a few die hard fans! I will definitely give it a go in due time. Or when I am on holiday. I am already planning in my head which products to bring on my holiday in July! *sunblock, lots of moisturizer, nail polishes maybe? Hmmmm*

And last but definitely not least – Jacqueline Burchell Nail Polishes Lacquer.

Jacqueline Burchell Nail Lacquer (5ml/RM22)
With over 250 nail lacquer colors to choose from, Jacqueline Burchell nai llacquer will bring out the color in your life. Certified to be free of Toulene, Formaldehyde and Dibuthyl phalate.

Yay for nail polishes! The first thing that came to mind when I saw these colors was – galaxy nails! The colors are not really my cuppa tea but they do look really ‘out of this world’. I am in the midst of swatching and editing them really. I will have a post on these babies up really soon!
———-
I kinda liked this box even though there were no full sized samples in it. Or maybe the nailpolishes count as fell size? I don’t know. But either way, I definitely have to send at least 2 subscriptions to the chopping board. It may not seem like it when you have a subscription or two but when you actually stupidly signed on to 6 boxes, you do find it a little too overwhelming! Back to the thinking board for me!
This is a personal review, I am in no way associated with Cosmobox or any of the brands featured here.

Holo Chevrons

Standard
Chevrons. I told you I’d try them again.
I did this manicure when I had zero inspiration on what to paint my nails with while wearing a soccer jersey the other day. As for as I know beauty and sports don’t go well, for me at least. I stared at my drawers of polishes for quite a while before picking out 3 rather monotonous colors.
I started with 3 coats of OPI Don’t Touch My Tutu, the perfect white jelly polish and topped it with free handed chevrons in Color Club Harp On It and a england King Arthur.

Harp On It is just as awesome as Cherubic! Fuss-free holo goodness in a bottle! Even though a good half of Harp On It is covered up you can still see the rainbows peeking out at you! King Arthur on the other hand is a shimmery gunmetal grey with an awesome formula! It covered Harp On It in just one coat and the brush strokes were not obvious. Which is definitely a plus especially for a metallic shade.
The photo below shows off Harp On It the most! *Rainbow love*
It turned out pretty good for an uninspired manicure don’t you think :P

From the Vault: Guess the polish!

Standard
Do not ask me why I never published this! I thought that I had already published it considering I had it all typed out and this was actually my New Years DAY mani. =/ My age is definitely catching up with me.
Anyways. May I present to you my New Years Day manicure, 3 months late nonetheless!
Let me warn you beforehand though that this post is gonna be photo heavy as I took a whole lot of photos everywhere under different lighting and most importantly, the polish is just too gorgeous to not show it off!
———-
I picked a really interesting polish combination to start my New Year! Can you guess which polishes I used?
I got this from a swap not too long ago, and as you know, I have only done one swap so far.

OK, fine. To be fair, I am wearing 2 polishes on my nails in these photos and both of them are from the same swap.

Anyone?

Well, the answer is – Max Factor’s Fantasy Fire over T.B.N Gorgeous Grape.
T.B.N. Gorgeous Grape is a really deep dark maroon which oftentimes look black if you don’t look too closely. Fantasy Fire, I think this polish needs no more introduction! It is a gorgeous blurple base with multichrome shimmer that shifts to red to copper to green to gold depending on what lights hit it and what color you choose as a base!
I think my choice of base color brought out the red/gold in Fantasy Fire. It just enhances and brings out the hidden red of Gorgeous Grape. Whenever the shimmer shines red, it gives the polish so.much.depth. I can’t stop staring at it!
See what I mean?
I also managed to grab a few photos that showed off the different shimmers in Fantasy Fire!
There was the elusive (for me) olive green.
And gold!
And all I had to do was turn around in circles catching the sunlight on the balcony.
I included a not-so-awesome-blurred shot to show off the sparkly quality of Fantasy Fire.

And finally – a night shot! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this! Fantasy Fire even looks gorgeous under a street light at night! I took this in the car while picking up a friend. I didn’t really notice at first but when I glanced down at my nails I was blown away and attempted a photo with my crappy camera (and succeeded to capture one good photo!).

*bliss*

Hare Polish – Rad Cloud

Standard
I’ve got a quick post for you before I head off to work this morning!
This is Rad Cloud from Hare Polish. The first of my Hares in fact!
I decided for a first go I would wear it on it’s own (3 coats). The glitters in the base is just gorgeous. And it all came out so easily too! I did not have to dab anything on.
I actually love this polish in the bottle. On my hands – not that much. Maybe I just need to get used to the color purple? It resembles pink a wee bit too much for my liking.

I am not sure, should I give it another chance (layer it over something) or should I put it in my blog sale?
What do you think?

Purple Skittles!

Standard
More untried polishes in this post! Actually, out of the 4 polishes I have on my fingers in this post, 2 are untrieds and the other two haven’t been used in quite some time!
I was thinking of a way to use all 4 polishes.I finally settled on a skittelette manicure to tackle this task. In shades of purple again! I think purple may just be my new favorite color.

The idea was to do a ombre manicure at the same time actually, one of the many nail art techniques that I have yet to pull off successfully!

What do you think? Does it count as an ombre manicure?

I used these colors Color by T.B.N Lilac (thumb), OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender (index finger), OPI Steady As She Rose (middle finger) and on The Hungry Asian Vote for Purple (ring finger and pinky).

Jewel Tones

Standard
I seldom wear bold colors together. I usually use bold colors as accent nails or pair them with a glitters of the same color or maybe black or white to tone it down a tad. I don’t want my manicures to stand out too much in the work place. But since it’s the holiday season (Chinese/Luanr New Year) I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bust out some brights!

I am wearing Colors by T.B.N Sea Foam and Julep Morgan as an accent nail. When I took these photos I was doing it without my glasses hence the dinged, smudged nails. Gah!! I did go back and fixed them right after taking these photos but immediately did some nail art on them. =.=

But dents and smudges aside, I think the pairing of these 2 polishes look really good. And my nail art over these? I think it’s pretty cool as well! Come on by and check it out tomorrow.

Day 3 – Glitter Loaded Nails

Standard
Glitter!! My top two favorite nail polish finish next to cremes. Ultimate extremes I know. LOL
Of course I had to bust out Purple Rain by Glitzology! I barely used it the last time. Purple Rain features glitters in many shades of purple. There are squares, hexes and shreds from lilac to dark purple.
I just found out hoe the ‘dabbing’ method of glitter application was through a youtube video the other day and decided to give it a go. Dabbing method = crazy amounts of glitter on my nails!
I layered Purple Rain over Sally Hansen Purple Potion. Hence the blue flash/duochrome-iness in the photos.

Neon No-Go

Standard
I finally decided to bust out my Deborah Lippmann Run The World (Girls) mini’s today. My first pick from the box – Party Girl. Party Girl is a bright (neon) pink polish that dries to a matte finish. Very interesting if you ask me.
Unfortunately, Party Girl was really very, very sheer on my nails even at 3 coats. It was a tad streaky for me too. The end result looked like I dipped my finger in red dye trying to make red eggs for Chinese New Year!
I tried to salvage it by adding a red glitter on it but, gaaahhh, I picked the wrong one. I applied one coat of CrowsToes Hell Hath No Fury but the base color and glitter just did not go together well :(
Owh one more thing! Party Girl photographed really funny. I had a bunch of them I took without flash and instead of pink it looked really orange. Like a deep neon coral!
Funny eh?

Half Moon Nails Updated!

Standard
I picked up a POPbeauty polish from Sephora the other day. I have always been eyeing them but as long as I could remember, they always were priced at RM49 (~£10/USD15) a tad on the expensive side if you ask me. But when I saw them going for RM29 (~£5.90/USD9.25) I knew I had to buy them. Even if just one of them.

I grabbed this gorgeous red glitter polish which I now know as Xmas from the POP beauty website. I thought it looked a lot like China Glaze Ruby Heels which I still do not own.

What to do when you are wearing a red mani and just purchased an awesome red glitter? Why, top the existing mani off with some glitter of course!
Xmas looks even more gorgeous on my nails that it did in the bottle! It gave my half moon manicure a lit from within quality! I think I only applied one coat on all my nails but somehow it seems like my middle and ring finger has more glitter in them than the other two fingers.
I have to post this photo I took with flash! *drool*

I just love bargains! And this is definitely a winner in my books :)

Day 2 – Half Moon Nails

Standard
I haven’t done half moon nails in a long time. I wonder why.. Hmm..
Today I topped off Calypso Gold with a Splash polish that I have, Splash 10 to be exact. 10 is a rich bold red creme polish but upon application 10 seemed like it is a jelly. Weird right? I only needed 2 coats of it to cover up Calypso Gold though.
One thing I found facinating about 10 is that although it has fully covered Calypso Gold the shimmer from Calypso Gold could still shine through it!
Gorgeous or what?!

Cult Nails Sale Alert!

Standard

Faces of Australia – Calypso Gold

Standard
Even though I have only used it once in a saran wrap manicure I love this polish! And even though I only have ONE photo for you today. My camera went funky on me and only managed to get one good photo of this polish. :(
Calypso Gold is from the FoA Barbados Collection inspired by beaches in Barbados. I can only imagine that this polish represent the sandy beaches there!

Calypso Gold is like no other gold nail polish in my collection. It is a really cool toned gold compared to the rest of them. It is really light, almost like a champagne color. It also applied gorgeously in 2 thin coats. Dry time was amazing too!

I am going to use this polish as a base for tomorrows challenge. Stay tune to see what I have come up with :)

Wonderbox January 2013

Standard
I’ve gotten my very first Wonderbox last week! This is definitely the most fun week for me. Haha!
The packaging for Wonderbox is this gorgeous patterened black and white box with a red ribbon and bow elegantly tied around it!

I quickly but carefully took off the ribbon and opened the box to see these beauties looking back at me! This box was meant to be the February a.k.a. Valentines box so it was really nice to see petals and even a box of  scented roses in it!

Let us move on to the products shall we :)
Murad | Skin Perfecting Primer Dewy Finish (30ml/RM150)
Skin Perfecting Primer Dewy Finish is an oil free primer in a universal shade that balances oil production, disguises flaws, evens skin texture and minimizes the appearance of pores.

I generally do not use primers as I only apply BB cream instead of foundation on a daily basis. But when I read the description of this product I was really curious and tried it on immeidately! To my amazement this product really does what it says! My pores were immediately less visible and my skin looked really smooth. It is slightly tinted, just like a tinted moisturizer. So I guess for all those lightweights out there you could just use this in place of foundations and BB creams!
The next product is not in any of my photos as while I was opening the box I put it in my ‘mask-stash’ drawer without even realising it! I was wondering why my photo looked a little empty :S
Murad | Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask (6×7.5ml/RM66)
Murad’s Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask instantly smoothes and hydrates skin, restoring brightness and balances combination skin.

Sounds really interesting don’t you think? I will try this on soon. Or maybe keep it for my trip to the islands later this year. Ha! That would be the ultimate test!
There was also a RM30 voucher for Murad products in the box. Considering how well the primer worked I may take a look see at the website soon.

Ronasutra 2-in-1 Mineral Foundation & Powder (8g/RM48)
Ronasutra 2-in-1 Mineral Foundation and Powder gives a naturally luminous look for a soft and even toned complexion. It is free from talc, synthetic ingredients, fragrance and preservatives.

Since I was already wearing the Murad Primer, I thought why not and I tried this powder foundation over it. I love the end results! My skin looked really smooth and it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin at all. It feels almost like a second skin.
Ronasutra | Anti-bacterial NBR Sponge (2pcs/RM5)
This anti-bacterial NBR sponge is suitable for sensitive skin. It has excellent pick-up and pay-load properties to ensure smooth application of Ronasutra Mineral Powder.

I did not use the sponge when I tried on the mineral powder as I was going for a soft natural look. I will definitely give this a go when I need a fuller coverage for a night out or a fancy dinner party.
Elianto | Nutri Rouge Lipstick in N02 (3g/RM25)
A creamy lipstick, armed with SPF18 and leaves your lips with a soft shiny and moisturising finish.

The color I got is N02, a soft almost Barbie-like pink. I am not one to wear lipsticks so I will be passing this to my mom. I am sure she will love the color!
Colored Hair Chalks
Hair chalk gives your hair temporary dye without any chemical harm. It is non-toxic and can be easily washed off using regular hair shampoo. Easily dye your hair at home and receive professional results!

Last but not least – Hair Chalks. This is one hair trend that I feel I can try out. But not anytime soon as I am trying out a new SLS-free shampoo. Sud free shampoo. Hair Chalk. Nightmare.
———-
I am loving this month’s Wonderbox. The Murad primer and Ronasutra Powder are my favorite products of the whole box! I like that the people behind Wonderbox included petals and roses in the box to match the Valentines theme too!
I subscribed to this box for 3 months and I am really excited to see what the other two boxes will be like. Hopefully by then I can make up my mind on which subscription to keep. At this rate, I think I may end up resubscribing for all of them!

Day 1 – Galaxy Nails

Standard
OK. It seems that I didn’t read the rules properly and missed out the last day that I was supposed to send a request to Erica to take part in her challenge. Oopsie! Owh well, Since I have already done a few designs, I shall continue with the challenge whether or not I am linked with the other wonderful ladies.
———-
Galaxy nails. One of the many nail art techniques I was crazy scared to try. I always loved to see them on other nail bloggers but was afraid that I will never be able to do it as nicely or perfectly. Well, I guess I was wrong!
This really is one really easy manicure to do!
All you need is a bunch of complementing nail polishes, a regular make-up sponge and a dotting tool. I did not know which way to go with my galaxies and pulled out a bunch of purples and a pink for this challenge.
I started with a black base and sponged nebula shapes with my polishes, starting with the darkest tone as the base of the nebulae to the lightest as highlights. After all this was done I decided to add some glitter for glitz. I used Cult Nails Hypnotie Me on the clouds itself and dabbed a bit of Glitzology Purple Rain on the sides for extra oomph! After all that has dried a little I took my dotting tool and some white polish and dotted on some stars.
I actually started this manicure quite differently. take a look at my thumb here.
Initially I was inspired by this tutorial at The Daily Nail but changed my mind and did it in purples instead. While editing the photos I thought that my original idea looked pretty cool. And Hypnotize Me really did brings out the greens and yellows I used.

I think I may redo this on all my nails one day. What do you think? Do you prefer the purples or is a multi colored nebula more your cup of tea?

Polishes I used in this manicure:

Sally Hansen Purple Potion

Cult Nails Hypnotize Me

Glitzology Purple Rain

Etude House CPP001

OPI That’s Hot Pink

OPI Alpine Snow

OPI Black Onyx

Skittles Updated!

Standard
So yesterday I popped by Sephora just to have a look-see and found this nice dark teal polish from the Sephora mini nail polish rack. It was a very rich vampy color and went with my nails very well that day. I held on to it for a minute of two and even put it in my basket. But alas, at RM21 for a small bottle I just couldn’t bring myself to buy it.

Though I did not buy it, I had a go at it and I am impressed! The polish although a little on the thick side, covered nicely in just one coat. The brush on the bottle was also really easy to use. All I did was swipe the polish on in one stroke on my pinky and the whole nail was covered.

I am curious why these Sephora polishes aren’t that popular in the nail blogging community. I wouldn’t mind picking up a few only if it’s on sale. RM21 (~USD7) is just too far from my budget for a mini bottle of polish.

Smitten Polish – Glass Elevator

Standard
I really really love my last order from Llarowe. Another lemming down! Wahoo!
Glass Elevator by Smitten Polish has been on my radar since the day it launched. It is packed with different sizes of matte teal and light blue glitters suspended in a white very pale aqua milky base.

I wanted to bring out the teals and blues in this polish so I paired it up with a nice light blue – Cult Nails Manipulative.
And to top it off and create a skittlette manicure, I stuck a little gem I got from the Cult Nails goody bag on my ring finger.

The gem didn’t stay around too long though. It fell off right after I woke from sleep D: So, in it’s place I used a hex glitter I fished out from Glizology’s Robots in Love. Talk about a versatile polish! LOL

It it said to be a dupe for Dollish Polish’s Expecto Patronum and Pretty and Polished Wherever you go, I Virgo. Anyone has those or have done a comparison of them?

Girly Bits – Black Eyed Susan

Standard
Remember when I said yesterday that I thought that Green-wich Village looked like grass? Well, what goes better with grass than a bed of flowers right?
*Cue Girly Bits Black Eyed Susan (Daisies!)*
When I first laid my eyes on swatches of these polishes I knew that I had to get it somehow! I finally laid my grabby hands on them when I bought them from Llarowe. On sale too!
Black Eyed Susan is a clear base packed with multiple sizes of matte yellow glitter in hexes and squares, micro gold holo glitter, metallic brown and metallic green hex glitters. I wore 2 coats if Black Eyed Susan over Green-wich Village. Glitter coverage was quite good actually but I did do some dabbing to get more brown glitter on my fingers. I just was not in luck with those!

Don’t you think they look just gorgeous together? Even the green leaves stood out over Green-wich Village!

OPI Green-wich Village

Standard
OPI Green-wich Village is one of my oldest nail polish I have in my stash! I can even remember that I bought it for USD12 back then. I even considered it cheap!
Anyways, I decided to bust out this color to use as a base color for one of my untried glitters (you will see this tomorrow!). I did not realize haven’t used this color since forever!
Green-wich Village is a warm green creme with yellow undertones. In fact I would say it is a really nice grass green!
Although the first coat seemed really thin and streaky, Green-wich Village covered flawlessly in 2 coats.
As much as I do not like wearing cool colors on my nails I actually quite like Green-wich Village. It’s slight yellow undertones makes this green just right for my skin tone IMO :)

Peeling Nails

Standard
My nails are in horrible conditions! For the past few days I have been busy cleaning and arranging stuff in my room as it is long overdue. I did not wear any nail polish while doing this because I really do not like it when it chips. Instead I wore only a coat of base coat. Or so I thought!
This is what they looked like this morning.
First up is my left hand. It looks kinda OK with just a small peel on my middle finger. This was the hand with base coat.
And meet my poor right hand! I did not realise but I did not use base coat on this hand! I use NailTek III base which dries to a matte and if you don’t look closely, it looks exactly like my natural nail.
The peeling is horrible across all fingers! Just look at my poor index and middle fingers! Usually if I have done a lot of cleaning around the house, at most only one thin layer peels off. But this time the top most 2 layers of my fingernails peeled off leaving only a thin layer.
I tried to salvage my nails and buffed them down and for a few minutes they were looking good. Until I wanted to paint my nails that is!
Gahhh! All my effort down the drain. Boohoo. I am going to cut them down again and paint them ASAP!
Be right back!

Trelly’s MISC Polish – Dance Education

Standard
One more giveaway polish on my blog today!
This is Dance Education from Trelly’s M.I.S.C Polish. It is a clear based polish with red square and hex glitters, black square and bar glitters as well as white bar ad small squares.
I love the combination of colors and glitters here. I am not usually one for bar glitters but somehow the ones in Dance Education doesn’t bug me much!

I layered  only one coat of Dance Education over Zoya Dove, a grey cream which I love! I actually went back and forth while picking the base color for this polish. I wanted to layer it ovver something that can show off all the different glitters in Dance Education. Do you think picked a good color?

I love how these glitters came together. Although I have seen polishes in the same color combination before, this is definitely a one of a kind polish in my stash :)

January 2013 modbox

Standard
This month is a month of subscription boxes. I went crazy and signed myself up to 3 different subscriptions late one night in December after seeing all their really cool December boxes! I was not crazy enough to go 12 months on all of them. I only with the minimum subcription of each box (one to three months in general).
Well, the first of all the boxes to arrive was modbox. It came in a sturdy little lilac box with white tissue paper and a bright yellow ribbon. I am intrigued by their color choice, lilac and yellow. Weird but interesting I guess.

The first thing I saw when I picked up the card was a RM20 cash voucher! Sweet! The box also had a nice delicate scent coming from it. I knew I had to find the source of that scent as soon as I caught a whiff of it!

Here are all the products lined up nicely.

From L-R: Cellinique Skin Action Sebum Gel, SANTE Naturkosmetik Body Lotion in Acai Energy, Kiss Me Heroin Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner, My Beauty Diary Bulgarian White Rose Mask and a small bar of Claire Organics Handmade Organic Soap in Verbana and Avocado Oil.

Cellinique | Skin Action Sebum Gel (RM159/30ml)

Say goodbye to those pesky blackheads and whiteheads! This sebum gel packs a punch with its phyto bio-engineering formulation gel, controlling skin congestion and reducing blackheads to leave you with clearer, smoothing skin.

Interesting. My blackheads are actually not that obvious (Thank God!) but I can’t wait to try this. After I am done with my little test drive of the Human Nature skin care I purchased not too long ago. It’s going well so far!
SANTE Naturkosmetik | Body Lotion in Acai Energy (RM19.90/150ml)

Pamper your skin after a long day with SANTE’s organic nourishing body lotion. Complete with harmonising and memorable scent, it features precious organic camellia oil that is bound to leave your skin feeling irresistibly smooth and soft.

I had a go at this product and I love it! I used it in the morning the other day and the scent lasted throughout the day! The scent was really interesting. I found the scent rather fruity, almost like a fruit cake! My mom on the other hand said it smells like melted butter :| Fun scnet aside, it was really moisturising to boot!
Kiss Me | Heroin Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner (RM19.90/2.5g)

Voted by you as a must-have-can’t-leave-home-without-it item! This long-lasting waterproof eyeliner will take you through an entire day of sweat, tears and rubbing.

Long lasting it definitely is! Whenever I wear mascara or eyeliner it is bound to smudge and make me look like I have panda eyes! Not this eyeliner! I wore it for a whole day and it still looked like I just put it on! A defnite winner from this box!
My Beauty Diary | Bulgarian White Rose Mask (RM39.90/box of 10)

Brighten up your skin before a big night out! With white rose hydrosol and kiwi essence, this mask instatly whitens and hydrates skin to give you that radiant glow.

Big day where are you? LOL. I have heard that My Beauty Diary masks are really good but have yet to try them for myself. Maybe one day soon I’ll finally get to them and give you a proper review here.
Claire Organics | Handmade Organic Soap suitable for face and body (RM16-23/~100g)

Feel luxuriously moisturised with the homemade goodness of Claire Organic’s soaps. Made only from fresh and natural high quality ingredients such as organic virgin olive oil and essential oils, each soap is manually cut and carefully cured for 45 days.

This was the source of the scent of the box! I am eager to try it but have to wait another day to do that. If you look at my shower now you can see that I have 5 types of body products just sitting there. As much as some people do not like soaps I actually love them. I use them when after a hot, sweaty day and it does the job just right!
———-
I am really impressed with modbox and the products in the January box. There were 2 full sized items (body lotion and eyeliner) and those alone made up for the whole RM28 I paid for this box!
I am definitely thinking if I should renew my monthly subscription of this box. Considering that I have 3 more boxes on the way I definitely have to pick from the best and only keep 2 or maybe just one of them.
So far, this looks like a winner!

A first look at Splash Nail Polish

Standard
I recently came across this new brand of nail polish, Splash, and decided to give them a go. I have never heard of them before I bought them and a google search did not give me much results. I of course was hesitant at first but now I dare say I am a convert!
I picked up 3 Splash polishes the other day, a color, a glitter and a glow in the dark polish! I am going to show you the glitter polish today!
This is 44. Yup. It’s just a number like most Korean nail polishes! But despite the not so auspicious number, 44 is a really cool glitter! 44 is a clear polish packed with multiple sizes of pastel opal and iridescent glitters as well as larger hex glitters. It reminds me ever so slightly of China Glaze’s Snow Globe.
I did a gradient of 44 over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and I thought it was really cool. The grey-white of My Boyfriend Scales Walls against the blue/purple glow of 44 is just so magical. Like snow on my fingertips!
Surprisingly glitter coverage was really good for this polish considering it was in a mini bottle! I did not have to fish around, not even for the bigger hex glitters.
I am thinking to purchase more of the Splash polishes in the near future. Maybe I may stock up on them and host a giveaway again?

What do you think? Yay or nay?

Essie – Mink Muffs

Standard
I’ve got a quick little post for you today!
But before I continue I would like to apologize for being absent yesterday. It’s been really buy the past few days and will be busy the next few days too! I may not be able to post regularly the next few days. Do forgive me for that.
On to the polish!
I have Essie’s Mink Muffs for you today! Brown isn’t my color but when I saw swatches of this little beauty I knew I was going to get my hands on it one way or another! I stalked online shops to no avail but finally bought it at a blog sale! For less than half of what I would buy regularly! :D
Mink Muffs is a gorgeous rich chocolate brown! It’s like I have melted chocolates on my fingers. LOL. It covered nicely in 3 thin coats. Though looking at these photos I think I may only have two coats of polish on it :S
What is your best blog sale purchase?

Random Ramblings: Low Buy anyone?

Standard
The past few months were crazy months for polish buying! There was soooo many sales and offers and discounts going about all over the place. Online, offline, etsy, Sephora, Llarowe. Gaaaahhh! I for one couldn’t resist them and bought a whole bunch of polishes!
So for the month of February onward till hopefully June, I am going to set myself on a low-buy. Not a no-buy because I would be good the whole month and go crazy once the month ends. I think I have had 2 or 3 no buys 3 months apart. I would buy things on the first month, receive most of the items in the second month and by the time the third months come rolling by I’ll be all – OMG I bought too much polishes the past month! It’s going to be a No-Buy next month! Rinse and Repeat! It is a vicious circle that never ends!
This time around, my low-buy is going to cover all aspects of my life! From not buying too much junk food to buying clothes and shoes (Luckily we do not have 4 seasons in Malaysia :D ) to nail polishes and beauty products! I know I cray cray. This low-buy thought not as extreme as a no-buy will still be kinda hard. But I gotta be hard on myself for the sake of my bank account and pending holidays.
Plus! With some packages that I have yet to receive, I should have enough of everything to last me a few months.
Wish me luck girls!

Color Club – Cherubic

Standard
I am kinda late to hop on the holo polish bandwagon. I had a few Ozotic Holographic polishes but they did not work too well for me. I grabbed some Glitter Gal holos at a discount somewhere mid last year and then some Color Club Halo Hues during a Christmas sale last year. It took me long enough but I finally have them up here for you to see!
I have 2 holo polishes for you today! One Glitter Gal and obviously one to-die-for Color Club. I guess you gals know which one I like over the other.
Can you guess which is which?

I used Color Club Cherubic on my pointer, middle and pinky fingers and Glitter Gal Suede on my ring finger. I honestly thought that they would be more similar than this judging from the colors in the bottle but I guess I was wrong!

As you can see from the two photos above, Cherubic wins hands down in the holo category! I love the rich brown in Suede but I really thought that the Holo would show up more. Maybe it’s just me because I have seen many awesome shots of Suede on the internet!
After about a day I decided to go all Cherubic!

So pretty!

Even I, with my crappy camera, could capture the rainbows in this polish! *win!*

I heard that the Color Club Halo Hues stamp well. Although I suck at stamping I definitely have to have a go at it! What do you think?

Human Nature, 100% Natural Beauty Products

Standard
I recently placed an order for some Human Nature facial care products with downtoearth.com.my. Human Nature is a company dedicated to produce 100% Natural products at a decent price! Imagine my happiness when I found this website.
My skin is going through a horrible period at the moment. My face, cuticles, hands, legs and even my EYES are all really dry at the moment. Peeling, cracking dry – for the skin of course!
My current facial wash and moisturizer have been serving me well for the past year but suddenly it just wasn’t enough. So when I found out about Human Nature, I was eager to try out their products and see if au natural products could save my skin. Plus it seems SLS is one of the causes of dry eyes. =/
I placed an order just before 12pm just 2 days ago (Tuesday) and granted that they stated that it would take anything from 3-5 days for the product to ship I didn’t really bothered to look out for any confirmation emails from them. To my surprise, I received a reply from them 20 minutes later confirming the shipment of my order! Talk about awesome Customer Service!
Anyways, I placed an order for 3 listings – a Santa’s Samples LE Christmas pack, a Hand and Foot Salve and of course a Hydrating Facial Care Bundle for my crazy skin.
First up is the Sample Pack. For RM49.90 you get to choose 5 mini products (50ml) from 5 categories; namely shampoo, conditioner, lotion facial wash and a spray sanitizer. My choice of products are as below.
Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner, Vanilla Healthy Lotion, Balancing Facial Wash and Citrus Burst Spray Sanitizer
They came in this cute little bag that fitted all 5 of them just nice! I haven’t had a chance to use them yet but I did take a whiff of them all and they definitely smell natural. Not only is the Citrus Burst Spray Sanitizer 100% natural, it is also alcohol free! I definitely have to bust this out soon!

Next up is the Hand & Foot Salve in Eucalyptus (50g/RM17.90). Nope, I haven’t had the time to even play with this product. I actually bought this for le boyfriend who has really dry feet. We’ll see how this item works out in few months (if he uses it regularly that is!)

And finally, the reason why I decided to post this even though I have only had the products for 2 days, the Hydrating Facial Care Bundle (RM89.90) which consists of a facial wash, toner and day and night creams.
I was really eager to try out this new range of products so I ditched my usual routine for the night and had a go with the facial wash, toner and night cream.
The smell for the products are really not all that. In fact, they were kinda funny to me, like it was too natural too me. I am a sucker for pretty smelling beauty products #aunaturalfail Scent aside, the hydrating products really do deliver! I only used it for one night and I can already see the difference! My face is no longer dry and peeling and the spots on my face due to dryness has subsided! No kidding!
Unfortunately, I still have my previous facial care products still waiting to be used, if not I would definitely convert immediately to these products! Just give me a month or two and I’ll be back with an update of how awesome these products are :)
P/S: To the ladies in Malaysia ‘ORDER THREE, SHIP FOR FREE!’

All items in this post were purchased by me for personal use.

Glitzology – All or Nothing

Standard
Glitteerrrsssssss!!!
That’s all I have to say about the polish featured here today. LOL
Enjoy!
This is All or Nothing which I purchased about a month or 2 ago from Glitzology. It was made by Stacey for her younger sister. How sweet!
All or Nothing is (obviously) a glitter bomb packed full with hex glitters of many sizes in fuchsia, silver and teal holo as well as shreds in fuschia, teal and purple! That is a whole lot of glitter in one bottle – All or Nothing indeed!

I layered 2 coats of All or Nothing over a silver base. I can’t recall which though =/

Bokeh shot anyone? :)

Cult Nails – Scandalous

Standard
I have another Cult Nails polish for your viewing pleasure today! This time it’s less showy and more appropriate for Monday.
This is Scandalous from the Cult Nails Divas and Drama collection. It is a nice pale pinkish-coral polish.
I initially purchased Scandalous because it resembled Starfish-Patrick by Rescue Beauty. The reason for I choose Scandalous over Starfish-Patrick is because Cult Nails polishes are half the price and so far has delivered polishes with awesome formulas!
The formula of Scandalous was really interesting. Upon application of the first coat, I honestly thought it was going to take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to make it opaque because it seem kind of jellly-like.

But surprisingly it took me only 3 coats to reach the opacity in the photos here. I do have to say though, my VNL is not as obvious as it is in these photos. Camera and lighting problems I guess.

Initially I looved this polish a lot on me. But as I continued to wear it, I noticed that the color changes to a nice soft coral to pink.
Don’t get me wrong, it still is a gorgeous color! It’s just that pink isn’t really my thing. Especially light pink. It’s alwasys a no-go for me. It always makes me look like I have lobster hands.

One more thing, aside from looking pinkish, Scandalous also turned neon on me! LOL! Tres weird!

Pink, White and Blue!

Standard
This is an old manicure which I never came around to post because the photos aren’t as awesome as I would like them to be.
This was a super early attempt of a skittlette mani which I did. I did not include any glitterbomb accent nail but I like it all the same :)
I love Cotton Candy very much and always wanted to wear it again but with all the new polishes I keep getting in the mail, it was kinda forgotten. I finally took this baby out and told myself – you must use this polish NOW! With that in mind I quickly picked out 2 the blue and pink to play off the glitters in Cotton Candy.

I think the combination, though a little simple, is still really cool. From far, many people have asked how I dotted the blue and pink on the white! LOL

And finally, the finger where Cotton Candy applied the best – my right thumb!

I used:
Cotton Candy by 365 Days of Color
No Room for the Blues by OPI
It’s Hot Pink by OPI

Cult Nails – Seduction

Standard
I finally picked a glitter topper to go with the navy polish I had on two days ago. Well, not glitter per-se but rather than a flaky topper!
This is the beautiful Seduction by Cult Nails. I am sure many of you are familiar with this polish’s sister – Clairvoyant a.k.a. Unicorn Puke from Cult Nails. Unfortunately for me, Unicorn Puke was long discontinued by the time I came to know about Cult Nails. It is now going at ridiculous prices on eBay and blog sales mind you!
This is one gorgeous flaky polish I tell you! Unlike Essie’s Shine of Times, the flakies in Seduction are more subtle and less dense. It took me 2 coats of Seduction over China Glaze First Mate to achieve the opacity I desired.

The flakies in Seduction flashes red, blue, purple and the occasional green – which was crazy hard to capture on camera!

I realised that the green comes out in lower light conditions. And also when my hands is wet. So off I went and wet my hands and hide in the shade to capture this gorgeous photo!
The green finally showed up!!
One more photo of this lovely polish to drool over before I end this post.
*drool*

The Randomness Continues~

Standard
I finally got my hair cut!
I have mentioned before that I was planning to get my hair cut but have been putting it off until I have found a charity/independent body that collects hair to make wigs for cancer patients. But up to date, I have yet to find anyone that collects hair!
Last Sunday, I finally thought – Just cut it (my hair) and save it till you find someone that collects. And that was what I did.
This are the results:
(I have clarify that my before hair doesn’t always look like this. It only seems super unruly because my hair was tied up in a bun for an hour or so that morning. I didn’t exactly have time to comb it out and fluff it up at the coffee shop right before I went to the salon.)
Kinda drastic don’t you think? I think I took about 16-18 inches off! My hand slipped many times while washing because I still haven’t gotten used to the fact that my hair is so short now!
For now I have to keep an eye (and an ear) out to see who/where in Malaysia collects hair to make wigs :)
Wish me luck!

China Glaze – First Mate

Standard
Eeep! I’m running late on my posts – 12 and a half hours to be exact! It’s been really busy this morning, plus the internet was down earlier on! I’ve got a quick post for you today. I’ll definitely get a better post up tomorrow. On time too! LOL
I have got this gorgeous navy, First Mate from the China Glaze Anchors Away Spring 2011 collection. I had this color for ages but never came about to use it. My brother’s girlfriend always wears this color and everytime that she does I ask myself why I do not!
The formula with First Mate is like any other Chine Glaze polishes I have ussed so far – opaque in 2 easy coats. And I always never have to do any clean up because their brushes are that easy to control!
I love how First Mate is not too dark or not too light. Even in low light conditions this polishes is still an obvious blue :)

I am not a big fan of blue polishes or dark polishes but I am really in love with First MateI have plans to layer a glitter polish over this beauty but I am putting it off for a little bit more :)

Darling Diva Polish – Witchy Woman

Standard
It’s about time I posted about my lucky win at Naked Without Polish don’t you think!
The first polish I have today  is Witchy Woman by Darling Diva Polish. Witchy Woman is a black jelly based packed with different sizes of multi colored rainbow glitters!

Application of Witchy Woman was easy peasy! All the glitters came out nicely in one swipe. No dabbing required!

I love how the glitters are in Witchy Woman. I don’t know about you but it reminds me of corals under water.

It wore quite well too! What you see here is actually photos of the manicure on it’s third day. Aside from the little chip on my middle finger from opening a can of Coke, all is well.
As soon as I got this polish I knew I wanted to layer this over Cult Nails Time Traveler. This is Time Traveler at just ONE coat! Look at how opaque and deep the color is!
Ahh! I just realised why the polished chipped a little! This manicure is only 2 coats + top coat!

Cosmobox December 2012

Standard

I got my Cosmoibox just in time for Christmas last month. The box was presented just as classy as before – baby pink, black and white all over!

Once I tore back the tissue paper, this is what was in it. Samples. All Samples. To be honest, after all the hype on Cosmobox’s Facebook page, I was a little disappointed.

Below are leaflets on the different items in this month’s Cosmobox.

The first thing I opened was the Sebastian Hair Care Box.

In it, 3 sachets – shampoo, conditioner and treatment for colored hair. Hmm.. I am not too fond of this, for one because my hair isn’t colored and I did not expect to receive sachets in my box. :( Needless to say I have not used it, I would most probably pack it in my bag when I’m off on a short trip some time next this year.

Sebastian Light | Shampoo (250ml/ RM64)

Purifying Sebastians’ mind to the notion of clean with the weightless shine shampoo and conditioner

Sebastian Light | Conditioner (250ml/ RM69)

Pro-shine conditioners cleanse and purify the hair’s condition for weightless, flawless shine. color safe.

Sebastian Hydre | Treatment (150ml/ RM89)

Intense nourishment formula rehydrates dry, frizzy and chemically treated hair for invigorated silky body and bounce. color safe.

The next item in the box was a pouch of Yadah Cosmetics items. I personally have never heard of them but their packaging does look really cute! In it was 2 bottles of Vitamin Toner and 2 bottle of Vitamin emulsion, 1 sachet of Sun Cream SPF40 and another of Angel BB Cream SPF20. I have heard some good reviews on the BB Cream. It is definitely next on my to-try list!

Yadah | Vitamin Toner (80ml/ RM49)

Enriched with organic Opuntia Ficus (cactus) to soothe and hydrate the skin. Formulated with orange and lemon extracts filled with vitamins to help refresh, tone and brighten skin.

Yadah | Vitamin Emulsion (80ml/ RM49)

This light matte-fluid when paired with he Yadah Vitamin Toner leaves skin naturally moist, brightened and velvety soft.

Yadah | Sun Cream SPF40 PA++ (50ml/ RM35)

An extremely gentle and light weight waterproof oil-free cream that offers effective protection against harmful UV rays. Natural and organic-based extracts make it less irritating to the skin

Yadah | Angel BB Cream SPF20 PA++ (40ml/ RM49)

A multi-functional makeup base and primer with botanical vitamins and skincare benefits including anti-wrinkle, anti-oxidant, brightening, UV sun protection, moisture and sebum control

Owh yea! There was also a RM10 voucher for Yadah products. All I need to do now is to hunt down a Yadah store.

My favorite product in this box so far – benefit they’re Real mascara. I was thinking to get this mascara for ages but have never jumped the gun and I am so glad that I didn’t!

benefit | they’re Real! Mascara (8.5g/RM85)

A mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates. This jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!

I haven’t  tried this product out yet. Too many opened mascaras in my drawers to open another.

And last but not least, a roll of red ribbon, a Santa Hat hair clip and mini First Aid Salve from *Bisou* Bon Bon.

*Bisou* Bon Bon First Aid Salve (25g/ RM16.00)

An oinment for elbow graze, insect bites, finger burns, eczema patch and irritating rashes. Infused with antiseptic tea-tree oil, lavender, shea butter, rose hip oil, vitamin E, manuka honey and chamomile.

I do not have this product with me because on the day I received my Cosmobox a friend of mine mentioned that she had bad bed bug bites from a hotel she went to. What better way to put this little First Aid Salve to the test right? Before I passed this to my friend, I did take a whiff of it. It reminds me very much of Burt’s Bees Hand Salve.

I have to admit here, I placed an order with *Bisou* Bon Bon since I got this box and purchased some of her other goodies. She has *awesome* customer service and even though I gave away most of what I bought for Christmas present, I am very happy with my purchases from her!

—————

I love 2 out of 5 products. Not that bad but definitely not good. All in all, I am rather disappointed in this months box but I do have 4 more months to go! Lets hope that the girls behind Cosmobox will do better in the coming months.

This is a personal review, I am in no way associated with Cosmobox or any of the brands featured here.

Standard
You know your year is gonna be great when you get nail mail on the first day :)

First up nail mail from 365 Days of Color!

Sunny also included a mini miracle balm in Victorian Christmas, some Christmas themed stickers and candy canes (not pictured).
Next up, my order from Llarowe!
From L-R: Smitten Polish Glass Elevator, Hare Magic Mist and Heat Plague, Crowstoes Frogs Breath and Hell Hath No Fury and Girly Bits Black Eyed Susan

I grabbed this babies during one of the flash sales that Leah Ann had. These were all from the Going, Going, Gone section. If I remember correctly I got a 30% discount on these beauties!
And last but definitely not least – my order from LynBDesign.
From the back (L-R) : Shockingly White, Sassy Snow Pants, Marvin Gardens, The Envy of Mr GreenWater Works, Boardwalk Empire and Improbable Truths
In the front : Ghostlike Charm and Reindeer Games
I knew I had to have these polishes when I saw swatches of them popping up on nail polish blogs but when I checked on Jenna’s etsy shop, she did not ship outside of the US. I tried my luck and asked Jenna about shipping overseas and she said yes! :D
Are you wondering why I am showing you only the back of these bottles? Well, the reason is because that some of these bottles do not have labels. Read on to find out why!

The Great Australian Comparison

Standard
I mentioned in an earlier post that I got a bunch of Australian nail polishes that seemed similar from my mom and through a swap. Well, I guess I was really going through a crazy moment there. out of the 8 mom got me, only 5 were similar to the ones I got from the swap. Make that 3 similar and 2 really close to each other.
These are the goodies from my Mom.
And these are from Natalia.
If you are thinking that the first 3 are colors from the same color spectrum while the other two polishes actually look like dupes. Well, you guess right!
First up I have Ulta3 tangelo and N.Y.C crazy. This photo of tangelo is horrible but in real life both colors are actually really similar. The only difference is that crazy  has a shimmer to it while tangelo is an orange  creme.
Next up I have ulta3 mojito and lagoon. They are very different greens but both are just stuning! I recently used mojito in a manicure and I was surprised at how the color came through! I will be posting that mani soon :) lagoon on the other hand is a gorgeous apple green with shimmer in it. I also have used this polish. I just have to locate the photos before I can post them!
ulta3 pearly grape and spring break are actually quite different. One is a shimmer and the other creme. I am amazed at how my mom managed to get a shimmer for every creme (and vice versa) that I had!
Now on to the polishes that look similar!
In the left corner I have Colour by T.B.N. Seafoam and Face of Australia Let’s go Scuba Diving. In the bottle they seem like they are the same hue/shade of blue.
I did a quick swatch of it and guess what, they are similar but definitely NOT the same! Both Sea Foam and Lets go Scuba Diving are metallic seafoam greens with shimmer but Lets go Scuba Diving has much more shimmer in it! Or rather LgSD has a greenish shimmer to it while Sea Foam has silver shimmer.
And in the right corner I have Designer Brands Berry and T.B.N Berry Blush. If you think the names are similar, wait till you see the swatch! Well, both polishes as their names suggest are a nice shade of berry-pink  in the bottle. But when you swatch them – it becomes a darker more vampy shade of berry.
If you have not seen the names do you think you can tell them apart?
They are very, very, very similar but there is a small difference in them which only can be seen IRL. Berry has a tad more shimmer to it than Berry Blush. And probably Berry Blush has a slightly better formula than Berry. I used 3 coats for Berry and just 2 coats for Berry Blush in the swatches below.

And there we have it! My great Australian polish Comparison. *phew~~*

Stevealicious!

Standard
Looks familiar? I used this as the base color for my snowman manicure I posted a few days ago. I was really amazed by this polish and decided that it should have a post dedicated to it!
This is Steavealicious by Colors by T.B.N. It’s a nice blurple which has awesome coverage in one coat. Yep! This awesome blue/purple is a one coater! It also dries really glossy, these photos are without top coat.
I am a really hard time photographing this polish. In real life the purple is definitely more obvious. It definitely reminds me of  Want My Bawdy from the China Glaze Bohemian Collection, with less shimmer I think.
You know what I love most about this blue polish?
It does not stain!

NYE Mani – Clelestia and A Stroke of Brilliance

Standard
It’s the New Year already!! Time sure passes by really quickly!
I wore this manicure yesterday. My choices for the polishes were easy – what have I not tried on this year! A quick look in my drawers I picked up polishes which I thought looked good together. Rainbow Honey Celestia and essie’s A Stroke of Brilliance.
I first started off with 2 coats of Celestia. This color is lovely on its own. It’s packed with light glitter and glass flecks.
The only thing that bugged me a little was the sheerness of this polish. Even with 2 coats, under certain lightings my nail line was very visible.
Sheerness aside, this polish is super shiny!
I then grabbed A Stroke of Brilliance and dabbed it on my tip to create a gradient. I intended for it to be an accent nail but fell in love with it so much I did it on all 10 fingers!
I love how the different blues managed to blend together so well!
I even got a few compliments from my colleagues :)
What did you wear on your nails on NYE?

Snowman!!

Standard
First up, I would like to apologize for being absent the past few days. I had a guest over at my house over the holidays and had to play tour guide and bring him all over town. Literally. My nails were bare for 3 days and after it all I was so burnt out I spent the last 2 days sleeping it off.
I did a cute little snowman mani the other day just in time for Christmas Day. It’s a little overdue but I do hope you will like it :)
My base color was Color by T.B.N. Stevealicious because I thought it would be nice for Mr Snowman to shine against a nice dark blue background! I used OPI Alpine Snow to create the snowman as well as the random, er, snowflakes on my other nails. I finished off Mr Snowman with a red scarf (OPI Big Apple Red), some coal for eyes (OPI Black Onyx), buttons (OPI Warm and Fozzie) and a small little carrot for a nose (Sally Hansen Sun Kissed)
I applied top coat a little too early and it smudged Mr Snowman’s Scarf. Do you see what else is wrong with Mr Snowman?

Anyone?

I realised when I posted the photo above on Instagram that My little Snowman actually was missing a hat! I quickly went through my drawers and picked out OPI Skyfall to make a little hat for him.
Since I was going to apply another coat of top coat I also fixed up Mr Snowman’s Scarf.

Much better now :)

Cult Nails Haul

Standard
I took the opportunity to grab more Cult Nails goodies while they were having the offer on grab bags!
I did not buy many colors this time. I pretty much decided this would be a good time to stock up on Wicked Fast top coat! (I grabbed 3). I also got a convert pack with Charlatan and Nevermore (not pictured) as well as Flushed, Afterglow and Disciplined from their new collection! Talk about being lucky!
This was what I had in my grab bag - another bottle of Flushed!!, 2 wheels of multi-colored square and rectangular rhinestones and 2 pots of metallic studs!
Not too bad eh?

Shopping at Harlow and Co

Standard
I think I have found a new favorite place to shop for nail polish!
I have been stalking visiting Harlow and Co for a long time now. They are one of the few online shops that carries KBShimmer polishes and sells internationally! You know I love me some KBShimmers although I haven’t manage to grab any at all!
Anyways, while I was at Harlow and Co I noticed that they had some nail polish strips on sale and decided to finally place my order with them even though there were no KBShimmers that I want in stock. My damage: 2 polish strips, a Cirque polish, a body scrub for mom and a grab bag.
Fast forward 2 weeks and this came in the mail for me.
Remember what I said I purchased?
2 polish strips, a Cirque polish, a body scrub and a grab bag. Which means I received an Enchanted Polish and  Serum No 5 Love Lacquer in my grab bag! Talk about a good buy! Never would I have imagined that I would score these brands in a grab bag. *WIN*
Now to find time to play with these beauties! The weekend is almost here afterall :D

Dotted Argyle

Standard
Work has been getting the better of me! I am so tired after I get back from work I have no energy to do much of anything at all! I have even been sleeping before midnight these days!
This is a manicure I managed to squeeze in before I KO-ed for the night yesterday.
As much as this looks complicating in person it is actually really easy to do! I took reference from this video by missjenfabulous from Polish and Pearls.
I used OPI Skyfall and China Glaze Poetic for this manicure. I love how it turned up! And if you are hesitating about doing this – don’t! I even managed to dot this nicely on my right hand!
Usually people don’t notice my nails at work but I got quite a few compliments with this beauty!

Bubbles I love you not!

Standard
I received an OPI nail polish as a gift the other day. It was from a friend who knew I liked nail polish but did not know how many I really have. I was soo happy to get an OPI for a gift, and for it to be a polish I do not own yet was just priceless!
The polish in question is OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy from the OPI Soft Shades collection

Coney Island Cotton Candy is a great nude peach shade. It is quite sheer but definitely gives your digits a nice healthy color. It is most suitable for work if you ask me.
I decided to pair my new polish with an oldie that I had – Malaysian Mist I found that the two colors were very alike and decided to do some monochromatic nail art with them. I busted out my striping tape and dotting tool and went to town. And after all my hard work I topped it off with a new top coat I purchases the week earlier – essence Gel Look Top Coat.

And, if you have not already noticed it in the previous photos – BUBBLES!! Lots and lots of bubbles! D:
It only happened on the fingers which I used striping tape though. I think there was a funky reaction with the topcoat and the glue residue from the tape. =/

I really kinda like this look. I may re-do it as soon as I get a new bottle of Seche Vite or maybe my Cult Nail Wicked Fast topcoat will come in the mail soon!

P/S Just in case anyone was wondering, the dots on my ring finger was created by adding some white polish (OPI Alpine Snow) to Coney Island Cotton Candy

Cult Nails – Disciplined

Standard
I thought that I should get a head start on some unused Cult Nails polishes while I am waiting on my newest order to arrive!
This is Disciplined from the Behind Closed Doors collection that came out late last year! It is a soft creamy grey packed with soft, somewhat color shifting shimmer. It seems kind of sheer at one coat but it can be opaque easily at just 3 coats.
The shimmer in Disciplined looked really familiar to me when I first saw it. It took me a while but I finally figured it out! The shimmer in Disciplined is similar to Charlatan from their top coat series!
Actually, I am only  wearing 2 coats in these photos as my bottle of Disciplined came a little on the thick side. I am very sure that it is no fault of the polish itself. Well, you see, this is what I saw when I opened my bottle of Disciplined.
I got a leaky bottle.
Well,I am glad I store my Cult Nails polishes upside down. If not I am sure that it would have dried out even more!
And finally a shot with flash to show off the shimmer in this polish!
